The last thing you remember hearing is static. There were words in there, perhaps, quiet whispers like the rustling of leaves, like the crinkling of paper, like rust being scraped off a knife. The words aren't anything you'll remember, but they're there, and there are a lot of them washing over you, and it might be concerning if it weren't so warm where you're lying. You wake feeling disoriented, like you've been asleep for a long time. Of course, it's probably odd that you're waking up just now - perhaps you were in the middle of something important, perhaps you were waiting for something, or maybe you were just going about your day, but even before the whispering came you can clearly remember doing something back home. Can't you? Something else. Something that wasn't looking around the room you've found yourself in. It's not your room, either. Not the one you're used to. The room here is grey and white and tile; even if the bed is nice (and the bed is nice, it feels like it's been designed to cater just to you, maybe if you keep your eyes closed you can pretend it's a favor), the room itself is spartan and oppressing. The walls are cracked and the floors are in disrepair, but despite that there's not enough noise - it's silent, the quietness of it pressing in on you, and even if you can't see any cameras you get the distinct feeling that for good or ill, someone is watching over you as you get up. That might be enough to make you move, to make you not want to stay there. But even if you stick around for a while to look around in there, the walls hold firm despite their decrepit state and the pervasive silence isn't going away - if anyone's in the rooms near you, you can't hear them. If you want answers, you're going to have to leave. Be sure you grab the key sitting on your desk on the way out. Once you step out of the room into the hallway you'll most likely find yourself face-to-face with other confused people who feel as though they don't belong here either. Maybe you'll find something if you explore together; maybe it's safer in numbers. Wherever you end up going - and there are several places to go - you might want to check the large room toward the center of the communal area of the building. A subdivided foyer is here; at first glance, it even seems to offer you a look at the outside. Of course, once you've gotten over that particular disappointment, you might want to check out the walls, where you'll find some very interesting information about yourselves hanging on the walls. There's some other framed information that you'll most likely want to get a look at as well, seeing as how it could be the key to escaping this place. Although, speaking of keys... Despite your best efforts, you won't find any doors. The windows you find here and there are far more durable than they should be as well, and any attempts to break out won't work. It seems you're stuck here for the time being. Maybe your fellow captives have some thoughts on all of this. Welcome to Beacon General Hospital.

[barehands]

[She's already fearful as she wanders around, and it makes her more timid - it's like her heart skips a beat when she hears this girl's outburst, sees the way she flings the door open. Immediately, she holds her hands up as though in defense.]

I-It wasn't me, I promise! Please don't be mad!

[arebetter]

[ ... oh, that's just pathetic enough to convince her Rose probably didn't do it, yeah. Not the nicest reason to stop yelling at someone, sure, but. ]

So who are you, production crew? Coffee runner?

[barehands]

Production crew...? Um, no, nothing like that! I'm just a student.

Were you on a movie set or something before this?

[arebetter]

No, I just know a bad reality show when I see one.

[barehands]

A reality show...?

[Somehow, that idea makes her laugh, a self conscious sound.]

Oh, no, I don't think I'm interesting enough for something like that.

[arebetter]

Hey, these kinds of things take all sorts. Rock stars, random students...

[ She almost... growls? It's a scary noise, directed down the hall. ]

Not telling us is a whole new level of parasitic, though.

[barehands]

[She glances in the direction Pizzazz seems to be directing her ire, another wave of worry passing over her face.]

I don't like it at all, either. I wish whoever brought us here would at least tell us what's going on...

[arebetter]

Yeah, especially considering I was just...

[ She looks down at herself. Normal fashionable outfit, no Halloween costume, no injuries. ]

I should probably be in an actual hospital right now, if anything.

[barehands]

[There's a quick intake of breath, surprised, before her expression is painted with concern. She takes a step closer, then stops herself.]

What happened? I-I mean, um, if you want to talk about it.

[Despite the lack of injuries she's sporting now, there's no skepticism in Rose's demeanor.]

[arebetter]

Something that really should have hurt, but... I'm fine.

[ She sighs. ]

I mean I must have been checked out, there's no reality show that sketchy.

[barehands]

I'm really glad you're okay, then!

[A gentle cant of her head.]

Do you really think this is a reality show? It's just, I didn't agree to anything like that...

[arebetter]

It's a reality show, a kidnapping, or I'm in a coma.

[ She pinches herself. ]

One of the first two.

[barehands]

...Does pinching yourself work if you're in a coma, not just asleep like normal?

[Asking the real questions.]

[arebetter]

Don't know. But I'm wishing really hard that I had some curly fries right now and that's not happening either, so.

[barehands]

Both of us are real, anyways, so I guess that couldn't be it.

[arebetter]

Guess not. So great, we've been kidnapped.

[barehands]

Do you know anybody who would do that to you? Maybe we could narrow it down, or...

[arebetter]

Don't know. Doesn't exactly seem like something Jem and the Holograms would do. I guess there are a lot of people who'd want to kidnap the lead vocalist of a world-famous band, but... no offense, I can't see why they'd take me and you.

[barehands]

[A self conscious laugh, and a shake of her head.]

No, it's okay. You're right, anyways... But wow, your band is that famous? That's really amazing! What's it called?

[arebetter]

The Misfits? C'mon, you must have heard of us.

[barehands]

They sound a little bit familiar... Aren't they from the 80s, though? I didn't know there were any girls in their group, either. N-Not that I think you're lying!

[arebetter]

The 80s? Nope, not quite. Try Twenty-Tens. I love the 80s, but... not the decade I live in.

[ Ba dum tish. ]

I don't mean to be rude, but... I think I would remember something as important as the year.
