Week 1.

WEEK 1 Despite how unhelpful she seems, one thing has become very clear after talking to the Transmitter: there's no way out of here. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Transmitter told you about are still hanging in every room. You'll be left up to your own devices now – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Patients for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. However, your wake-up call in the morning isn't exactly a pleasant one - loud bursts of static over the intercom can be heard early in the morning, pulsing almost as though it's following some sort of pattern, though it isn't possible to discern exactly what that pattern might be. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) PATIENTS REMAINING: 30

[Krauser wasn't around for the announcement, but later in the day he'll come across the signs (and Rin, of course) and for a moment he just sort of stares at them before turning his attention to her.]

Are these your doing?

Yes. [She remains sitting, rocking her chair back and forth on it's rear legs. She's less cross than she was earlier in the day, and looks quite easygoing actually.]

I was going to write down the entire speech I gave, but that seemed obnoxious.

Have you gotten anyone to return their knives yet?

[Who knows, Jack, we're in timeline hell. Please excuse me as I stall in order to get some threads a little further and find out!]

Oh good, you know others took their own knives too. I was hoping you'd realize this wasn't an attack on you personally. [Nod, yes that's good. Rin folds her hands in her lap.] I understand why you'd want one by your side, after all. The posted rules make it clear we'd be fools not to plan defensively.

I figured there'd be at least a few others who took some knives, so I wasn't taking it personally.

[He shrugs a bit once that's out there, then folds his arms.]

There aren't any other weapons here. Knives are really our only option for self-defense.

There are plenty of other weapons here.

[She didn't take anything from the kitchen because she's invested her precautionary measures in other places.]

And honestly, our strongest defense right now would be to deescalate tensions. Were you aware of just how many knives were missing as of this morning?

[well yes but who counts things that aren't guns or knives???]

I didn't check after I took this one, so no. I'm assuming most of them were gone when you looked?

Nearly all of them, yes, which is troublesome for two separate reasons and will affect everyone if it continues.

Agreed, but I doubt anyone's just going to hand their knife over.

It's for everyone's best interests, but I understand that. As I've told everyone, I'm willing to negotiate an exchange.

Oh yeah? What do you plan on exchanging?

Various things or various services, so long as I'm capable. What would interest you?

[Most people she assumes will want different things, so to her it's easiest to skip straight to that. She's already asking a lot, so she likes to think this shows she's taking the other person seriously.]

Not particularly.

[The answer comes a little too quickly, maybe.]

I can appreciate what you're doing and I can see the benefit in getting everyone to hand over their weapons, don't get me wrong. But I'm never without a weapon and I'm not going to start now.

What if we found you a different weapon?

Depends on what it is. I tend to favor knives, but I'm not opposed to swapping out for something else.

There's metal in the laundry room, as well as screwdrivers in the tool kits. I don't think those have all been taken yet.

Any of those would be more discreet. You could fit them up your sleeve, and it wouldn't take much to sharpen them.

[The screwdrivers could even be given a serrated edge, if that's what he prefers.]

...Heh. You're resourceful. If you can get the others to give up their knives too, I'll part with mine.

[Seems fair enough to him, anyway.]

[Rin smiles, genuinely.]

Of course, that's more than reasonable.

If I can't, QQ had an interesting idea. She suggested if no one returns their knives, we could make a list of everyone who has one. Would you be alright with that?

[She's mostly asking for sake of asking. Jack is probably the one person in the group everyone knows has a knife, so.]

Yeah, I'd be fine with that. I'm not keeping it a secret.

[He certainly doesn't mind looking suspicious if someone dies!]

[Well at least if no one else gives in, he won't be the only suspect!]
