WEEK 7 In a surprise twist, no one died this week. Well, unless you count Chitoge Kirisaki, who returned to the land of the living only to die the same day. Maybe you all are onto something. Or maybe you were just lucky. On Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, and while there are no bodies to find today, you might not have had a very good night's sleep anyway. It seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost again, even though no one was murdered this past week. Surprisingly, a new set of doors hasn't opened up anywhere. You can search the entire facility if you'd like, but you won't find any new rooms or hallways. It looks as though you didn't earn anything new. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 17

[ Mahiru has her hair pulled back again and she's wearing one of the more practical outfits from Ferid and Aligula's fashion show, but who cares about that when she's stared at Yuri's sword drills with a wistful expression. ]

Lucky~ That silly machine still hasn't given me anything but knives.

[hesperos]

[ Yuri will look over at her now, stopping mid-swing. ]

Yeah? Maybe I'm not the only one who's been given a sword. Someone could probably trade you something...

[ ...Wait a minute, he remembers something. He tries to see if he brought the thing with him or if he'd have to go back for it. Man. ]

... Speaking of which, I got something from the machine that's probably yours? It appeared to be some kinda photo with someone who looked a little like you in there, so I'm guessing it was a family photo?

[middaymoon]

[ Mahiru is about to nod and confirm that Terumi already agreed to trade, but...

A photograph? Instantly Mahiru is sure she knows who's in it, but she forces her voice calm as she replies. ]

Let me see.

[ Her tone is maybe a little too intense right now. ]

[hesperos]

[ He'll be nodding, and let us say for convenience's sake he probably carried the photo on him? It's small enough.

He'll take out the photo from somewhere in his inventory. But, not only does he hold it up, he also kinda holds it out to her? ]

...So here it is.

[middaymoon]

[ Mahiru reaches out for the photo, just barely managing to force herself to not snatch it away. She looks down at it for a moment before she... actually kind of smiles a little, closing her eyes. ]

Thank you, Yuri. I owe you.

[hesperos]

[ Well, he's glad it makes her smile -- looks like something went well today. ]

Hey, it's no problem. Glad I could help out, really.

I know if I were in your position I'd want something like that handed off immediately. Family photo, right?

[ Granted, there'd be probably no family member in the photo for him (if he's assuming correctly for her). ]

Yes...

[ The only member of her family she actually cares about. ]

My little sister, Shinoa. She's a clever, mischievous little nightmare.

[ She sounds overwhelmingly fond. ]

[hesperos]

[ Aw... ]

Heh. Sounds like you two get along well.

[middaymoon]

As well as we could. We're both quite busy, even though she's so young.

[ Spoken like Mahiru herself even remembers being any age aside from 16. ]

[hesperos]

Busy? Doing what?

[ Just out of curiosity! ]

[middaymoon]

She was busy with her regular schooling, of course. I was busy preparing to take over the family one day.

[hesperos]

That sounds pretty tough. Working up to take over the family and everything.

I'm guessing they trained you in a lot of things in order for you to do that, huh?

[ Besides weaponry. ]

[middaymoon]

They certainly did. History, politics, more than one branch of magic...

[ She shrugs. ]

Leading the Hiiragi requires not just commanding my own family, but half a dozen different branch families and countless unrelated followers. I can't be content to learn just one or two different skills.

[hesperos]

... Holy crap.

[ MAHIRU, DAMN. How. Yuri would just 'Nope' out so hard in that situation. ]

How do you even manage all of that in the first place?

[middaymoon]

I told you, didn't I? Allowing my talent to languish would have just gotten me damned to irrelevancy. If I didn't have the talent to take over, it would simply fall to my older brother.

[ There's a touch of sneer to her voice. ]

More so than being unfortunate for everyone who depends on us, that would be a terrible fate for me.

[hesperos]

[ Well... that explains why she said that back then. ]

Well, I have no doubt you'll be able to continue doing that stuff when we get out of here. You'll be able to continue easily where you've left off, right?

[middaymoon]

Of course!

[ .... ]

In truth, this place may do more to prepare me than a thousand normal lessons.

[hesperos]

If it did, I wouldn't be surprised.

[ This place has sure been a lovely bundle of lessons for him. ]

...I mean I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have started with learning piano stuff if I weren't stuck in a place like this for months.

[middaymoon]

[ Huh, she did do that, didn't she? ]

Well, that was just a personal indulgence. Music is one of the few things that wasn't considered a vital leadership skill.

[hesperos]

I'd say maybe they should've changed that, but it doesn't sound like it'd really help with your leadership duties.

[ It should be, tho. ]
