Week 1

WEEK 1

Unfortunately (or fortunately, for those of you who decided he ranks at an 8 or higher) the Adjudicator has made an appearance and he doesn't seem to be lying about anything that's happening here. There's no way out. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Adjudicator told you about are still hanging in every room. While the Adjudicator himself is around, you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Competitors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge.

You'll notice that the clock in the foyer goes off periodically, however. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in; it seems it's being piped in over that PA system in the walls. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you?

(Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.)

COMPETITORS REMAINING: 30

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY

[OOC: Welcome to week one of Trustfell! Feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget to save those threads for coins and the activity check!

If you'd like to get in contact with the Adjudicator, you can do so here!]

[ My god. She's never smelled food that amazing. She hasn't exactly eaten anything that tastes bad, but this is on a completely different level. There's sausage, and eggs, and pancakes, and...

Katniss starts loading up her plate with one of everything. While he's too busy focusing on making food, Katniss chows down. And when he's not too preoccupied-- ]

This is good.

I should hope so, considering I've made quite a lot here... [Not that he doesn't have faith in his skills (because he does) but it could have been a waste of perfectly good food if it had turned out otherwise.]

But thank you, I'm glad to hear that you like the taste of our cooking! If you have any requests for other dishes you'd like to have here, I'll be sure to make a note of it!

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-04 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Wow. She's never had someone cook anything she'd like. ]

It's a lot better than squirrel. [ Okay. ] Do you make lamb stew? With dried plums?

[ It's listed on her likes, and she's never had it, but she's curious. ]
cilantro: (if a ducklett crosses the road...)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-04 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Squirrel? ... Lamb??]

I don't recall preparing something like that before, but if the ingredients for it are here, it shouldn't be too difficult to make.
flagitate: (aim)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-04 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what all goes in it. [ Helpful. ] Sorry.
cilantro: (cilan what are you being smug about)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-04 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's alright. [And here, he strikes a bit of a confident pose.] There's nothing wrong with doing a little experimentation here in order to figure it out: in fact, it's one of the essential qualities of cooking, to be capable of creating and tasting new things!
flagitate: (stalls)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-04 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... Well. He's interesting. ]

My mother usually does the cooking. [ ... ] I'm not a cook. I don't really know what goes well together.
cilantro: (if a ducklett crosses the road...)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-05 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, depending on how long we're meant to stay here, there's time for you to learn more about cooking if you're interested? After all, it is a pretty important skill to have, especially when you end up in a situation away from home like this.
flagitate: (follow the string)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-05 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... ]

I don't know who'd teach me.
cilantro: (unfairly attractive fictional character)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-05 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a pause, before--]

Well, you do now. [And then he's holding out a hand, offering a handshake.] I'm Cilan. It's a pleasure to meet you Miss, despite the unsavory circumstances at hand.
flagitate: (traditional)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-05 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Right. The kid with another sort-of plant name. Katniss hesitates, then grasps his hand in a very brief grasp. It's not even a handshake, but.

... She's surprised he wants to help her. ]

Katniss. [ She pauses. ] You... really want to help me?
cilantro: (smile #345406480)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-06 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see why not: like I said, it's a good skill to have, and I think that anyone who wants to learn more about cooking deserves the opportunity to do so.
flagitate: (face)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-06 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Wow. ]

Whenever you... want to, I guess.
cilantro: (tea time is always a good time)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-06 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I can't say that I'm too picky regarding the best time for lessons here... [I mean, it's not like we're going anywhere anytime soon, if the Adjudicator was serious about them being here for the long haul...] I'd even offer to teach you after we've finished eating here, but if not, any time otherwise that's convenient for you is fine with me.
flagitate: (archer's paradox)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-06 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't planning on doing anything except walking around. So... sure. After we eat.
cilantro: (no one understands us except pansage)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-06 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent! Just let me know when you're ready, and we'll get started.

[And while she is finishing her meal, Cilan is doing a quick sweep of the kitchen, looking for ingredients that can be used to make a meal and is easy to teach beginners... maybe a casserole would be good, or... hmm...]
flagitate: (sight window)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-06 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ She'll go ahead and start eating. She's not eating as quickly as the past couple of days--stomachache before cooking lessons probably isn't a smart thing to have. Once she's finished, she rinses her plate and sticks it somewhere to dry. ]

Hey. Whenever you're ready.
cilantro: (unfairly attractive fictional character)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-07 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Assuming that Katniss washed her hands in addition to rinsing off her plate, Cilan will have an approving nod.]

Great! Before we begin, you said that your mother usually did the cooking at home, right? What kind of dishes did she prepare, if you don't mind my asking?

[Just so we can get an idea of what Katniss is familiar with when it comes to ingredients to use here and such.]
flagitate: (♪ there are worse games to play.)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-08 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Salads, mostly. Dandelion greens. She made a fish stew before-- [ ... ] Before I came here. Sometimes we get deer, but that's not often. Mostly it's stuff like rabbit, turkey, pheasant. Grain and bread, but it's nothing like what we have here.

We can find katniss roots sometimes, which are pretty much like potatoes.
cilantro: (this reminds me of a puzzle)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-10 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, I see. In that case, this taste might be familiar to you: the first thing you'll want to do before preparing anything that has fruit or vegetables in it is to make sure that you wash them with water first before doing anything else. This will help remove any dirt or bacteria that might be there, as well as make them a little easier to chop or mince afterward.

[And wouldn't you know it, we got some vegetables right here we can do just that with.]
flagitate: (shelf)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-10 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Huh. That makes sense. Katniss takes some of those vegetables, gives them a pretty thorough rinsing. ]

Why are there so many knives?
cilantro: (if a ducklett crosses the road...)

[personal profile] cilantro 2016-07-10 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
... You know what, I'm not sure? This is far too excessive a number to have, even in comparison to the kitchen at our restaurant.
flagitate: (♪ buttercup.)

[personal profile] flagitate 2016-07-10 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
I get being prepared, but no one needs this many knives.
