Week 1

WEEK 1 Unfortunately (or fortunately, for those of you who decided he ranks at an 8 or higher) the Adjudicator has made an appearance and he doesn't seem to be lying about anything that's happening here. There's no way out. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Adjudicator told you about are still hanging in every room. While the Adjudicator himself is around, you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Competitors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. You'll notice that the clock in the foyer goes off periodically, however. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in; it seems it's being piped in over that PA system in the walls. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) [Okay, so... this is actually the longest that Cilan has gone in his entire life without having his brothers or Pansage around, or at least as far as he can remember. Normally it wouldn't really bother him, but given the peculiar situation, it's not exactly doing favors for his nerves, worrying about whether or not his Pokemon are okay.

As such, one of the very first things he can be found doing is... cooking. Lots and lots of stress cooking in the kitchen as he inspects every single food item and kitchen utensil, before taking random objects and putting them down on the counter-top here with perhaps a little more force than necessary. That said, you'll find that he is in fact making enough food to feed about thirty people, and it's delicious. Toast, eggs, pancakes, you name it, he is probably making it for breakfast right now... and making food for lunch and dinner too judging by the appearance of a pot and ingredients being chopped and tossed in, though god help you if you interrupt him while he's in the middle of doing this...

If a successful attempt at forcibly dragging him away from the kitchen at some point is made, he'll end up going to the music room. Maybe listening to music will help take our mind off things... except for the part where Cilan only has a vague idea of how to play any of these instruments. But darn it, he is going to try playing a few keys on the piano, plucking a few strings on the harp, and picking up the violin to... wince when it immediately gives a discordant note right away and figure out what it was he did wrong there.]

[ My god. She's never smelled food that amazing. She hasn't exactly eaten anything that tastes bad, but this is on a completely different level. There's sausage, and eggs, and pancakes, and...

Katniss starts loading up her plate with one of everything. While he's too busy focusing on making food, Katniss chows down. And when he's not too preoccupied-- ]

I should hope so, considering I've made quite a lot here... [Not that he doesn't have faith in his skills (because he does) but it could have been a waste of perfectly good food if it had turned out otherwise.]

But thank you, I'm glad to hear that you like the taste of our cooking! If you have any requests for other dishes you'd like to have here, I'll be sure to make a note of it!

[Isaac's been in the dining room most of the morning, so when the noises in the kitchen don't stop and keep going after most people have eaten, he decides to check in. It looks like this guy's still cooking, huh...]

...It's nice of you to cook for everyone, but aren't you going to wear yourself out?

[Cilan looks up from some vegetables he's chopping for a second, but soon his gaze returns to his work, making sure his cuts are precise even as he speaks.]

Don't worry, I'll be alright. If anything, it's just like working a shift in the kitchen of our restaurant.

[... Well, except for the part where he had his brothers helping manage things rather than him doing everything by himself.]

[She's still getting used to the sleeping arrangements -- who am I kidding she is melting into this bed every night -- but being woken up by the faint, wafting smell of breakfast that's already been started? Now this is a step closer to the communal life of the caravan.]

[Her eyes light up upon seeing the spread. This is definitely a cut above the rustic cuisine of the gypsies, the kind of food you'd expect to be served at those fancy, expensive tea shops. The kind she'd never be able to afford.]

[She turns to the cook, her eyes literally sparkling with joy.]

This looks incredible! Did you really make all of this?

NO AND THAT IS WHY WE WILL LIKELY STILL BE HERE AFTER BREAKFAST

[Cilan looks up from putting the finishing touches for a stack of fluffy pancakes, smiling brightly.]

Indeed! Please, feel free to take whatever you'd like... oh, and do tell me if it's to your liking, too. I want to make sure to accommodate the tastes of everyone here.

she feels so bad for mooching as she brings her plate back in from her morning salad, but...]

Oh, I don't mind at all! By all means, please feel free to take anything you'd like.

[Heck, you'd be doing us a favor by taking something rather than letting any food here potentially go to waste, considering how much he appears to have made.]

AND IT ALL LOOKS SO GOOD... for someone who can't cook, this is like, a dream. She's definitely not regretting skipping out on getting a snack when she got up earlier. ]

Oh, goodness no, I would never be able to eat all of this by myself.

[And so, Cilan sweeps his hand out over the spread here in an offering gesture.]

[ CILAN, YOU ARE A GODSEND... seriously, Inigo has no idea how to operate this newfangled kitchen so he was just planning on getting himself some bread and fresh fruit so he's very pleasantly surprised when he wanders into the kitchen and notices all that food. ]

Wow. Is... is that food for everyone?

[ PLEASE DON'T DASH HIS HOPES BY SAYING IT'S NOT. ]

There's clearly enough here for all thirty of them. Hope someone's willing to eat another's portion. Actually...]

Cilan, I think you'll be needing to prepare a little more than enough for all of us -- we do have some rather large fellows here, and they'll no doubt be needing more food than most of us.

[That actually gets a pause from Cilan in the middle of what he's doing here, considering.]

... Oh, you may be right. [well then, give him a second here to put down another frying pan] What I made thus far should have a filling taste, but there will also be enough here to make a second portion for those who would like more, I think.

Are you seriously going to force yourself to cook for all of us?

[Luckily (or maybe unluckily for Naoto depending on how this goes) Cilan has yet to look up from what he's doing, so he hasn't noticed any recent changes with her right away--]

It's no trouble at all, really. As someone who takes pride in being a chef, there's nothing more satisfying in taste than having people to cook for.

[And it also distracts him from continuing to be a drama queen over his missing Pokemon, so there's that too.]

[Well, Flemming was coming in here to cook, and will probably still cook for himself because he's like that, but holy crap, that's a lot of food.

It's impressive, and he can't help but say something about the state of the kitchen and all of that food everywhere.]

[Brady's back to his favorite room in the whole place, and it sounds like he's arriving just in time, from that unpleasant screech of strings. He winces.]

[So fun fact, some people here haven't had a pancake in like ten years, let alone any of this other stuff. So Angel just sort of stares at all of it, at first.]

[Fern wasn't in the highest of spirits to do much but thank Cilan for the meal, but she's much more conversational by the time she finds him in the music room.]

Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting you to leave the kitchen.

[ Kyouko's walking in just as Cilan plays that bad note on the violin, and she can't help but chuckle. ]

I suppose this is your first time playing violin?

[Wow, today has been an interesting day so far--she doesn't really know who's been making the delicious food, but good lord, it's amazing. Maybe the Adjudicator finally hired some staff on, or let them out to mingle? Sayaka isn't quite that sure, but it's a pretty damn awesome gig.

...There's just one problem. She's been meaning to make some tea for herself to sort of calm her nerves down--but he's like a force of nature in there, and...maybe it isn't the best idea to go bugging him...]

...Um...excuse me, I hope I'm not being rude, but...would it be alright if I came in and made some tea, really quick?

[...That might be a bit soft and she hopes he hears her. Or just. Doesn't throw anything. She just wants some chamomile.]
