Week 1

WEEK 1 Unfortunately (or fortunately, for those of you who decided he ranks at an 8 or higher) the Adjudicator has made an appearance and he doesn't seem to be lying about anything that's happening here. There's no way out. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Adjudicator told you about are still hanging in every room. While the Adjudicator himself is around, you'll be left up to your own devices – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Competitors for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. You'll notice that the clock in the foyer goes off periodically, however. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in; it seems it's being piped in over that PA system in the walls. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) [Wow, today has been an interesting day so far--she doesn't really know who's been making the delicious food, but good lord, it's amazing. Maybe the Adjudicator finally hired some staff on, or let them out to mingle? Sayaka isn't quite that sure, but it's a pretty damn awesome gig.

...There's just one problem. She's been meaning to make some tea for herself to sort of calm her nerves down--but he's like a force of nature in there, and...maybe it isn't the best idea to go bugging him...]

...Um...excuse me, I hope I'm not being rude, but...would it be alright if I came in and made some tea, really quick?

[...That might be a bit soft and she hopes he hears her. Or just. Doesn't throw anything. She just wants some chamomile.]

[At first, Cilan appears to be so far in the zone that he doesn't hear Sakaya at all, until he happens to glance over--]

Huh? [Cilan looks up, giving Sayaka a surprised look. How long has someone been standing there? And what was she asking about, something about tea?] Ah... sure, that can be arranged. Just be careful not to disturb the pot that's already on the stove.

[He even grabs the kettle from... somewhere, and holds it out for her to take with the free hand that isn't currently busy with grabbing an ingredient for whatever it is that he's preparing here.]

[...Can he even hear her over his bustle? Man, she should've grabbed some teabags and a mug when she had the chance, maybe she could find hot water elsew--oh!]

Oh, of course! I wouldn't dream of it! [Just gonna gently take that, scoot to the sink and get water, and put that right on some heat there, adjusting the temperature to ensure it won't take too long. And her twiggyness will at least ensure there's plenty of room to move around, before she gets out of the way and bows.]

You seem very passionate about it, so of course it reflects in what you do! I think that's why everyone likes it, because it's very clear that you put a lot of care into each part of the meal.

[Complimenting him is an easy way to get Cilan on your good side really quickly, tbh]

Oh, indeed! After all, there's nothing more satisfying than to prepare something that is in good taste for all who try it, so it's important to put as much effort into one's cooking as humanly possible.

Heehee--you certainly do a good job at it. I imagine it must have taken a long time to learn how to do something like that, didn't it?

[She tries~] Let it be known that you succeed for sure!

I must admit that it did take some time to get to where I'm at now, but I think it might have taken longer if it wasn't for my brothers helping me along the way. Thanks to the three of us working together, we were able to learn how to cook and care for our own restaurant in Striaton City.

An entire restaurant? [Oh wow. Sayaka can't relate to having siblings help her--it'd have definitely been interesting if she were more than an only child, but hearing that he managed it with them all working together...]

You've worked this hard to get to where you are, and to think that you succeeded with the help of your siblings...! [She clasps her hands together in front of her, eyes practically sparkling.] You all must be such an excellent team--I'm so glad you all were able to achieve your dreams together!

[Ahaha] Well, there are a few things I'd still like to accomplish someday as far as dreams go, but I can definitely say that the success of our restaurant has had a satisfactory taste for me. It's something the three of us share and enjoy, so it's a very special place to us.

[Oh?] Well, I'm glad it's satisfactory, but...what is it you dream of becoming? Is it a really big dream?

[cilantro]

Well... I've been studying for most of my life to become a Pokemon Connoisseur, and while I have succeeded in becoming one, I'd like to further my skills and become one of the legendary S-class ranked Pokemon Connoisseurs! At the moment, I currently hold an A-class rank, and the only way for me to potentially move on to that next level is to have some traveling experience away from home, observing and tasting the Pokemon that live in foreign lands.

[But, it's not something he's been able to do just yet as he needs to decide when's the perfect occasion to take time off away from the restaurant and do so.]

And...you go around and taste them?

I...well, I may just be confused, but...it's important to have a dream, and I'm glad you've gotten far in obtaining it!

[She's just. Making an attempt at a save here but she is so damn confused.]

Yes, that's right. As Pokemon Connoisseurs, we taste them--not literally, mind you, that would just be silly--by observing them and their interactions with other Pokemon and humans. By judging the bond that a Trainer and their Pokemon might have, we can determine what quality of life the Pokemon has and whether or not it needs to be improved upon, in which case we do our best to advise the Trainer on how to better care for them.

[In other words, his use of "taste" here is just a figure of speech.]

Oh! ...Ohhhh, okay!

[Connoisseur and taste were used in the same sentence, she's not sure what she was expecting but that was definitely not it to say the least. That's a lot less bad than she thought!]

I'm sorry, I didn't really even realize that was what you meant about it... [So much inward facepalming at herself.] I'm afraid I don't really know what a Pokemon is, but they must be important if there are people like you around to make sure they're okay!

[cilantro]

Oh, certainly! Pokemon are wonderful creatures that live in our world, capable of extraordinary things that humans can only dream of doing: as such, it's important that they are treated with the respect and equality that they deserve when forming a partnership with them.

I'd show you my Pokemon as an example, but... alas, it seems our dear Adjudicator deemed it necessary to separate our Pokemon from the trainers here for whatever reason.

[which, thinking about causes his smile to fall a little here because seriously, what the hell juri]

[...Huh. It definitely sounds like it'd be a funner world to be in if those Pokemon exist. And it makes sense--it sounds like they're pets, but very powerful show-pets? ...Superhero-pets? With humans as the sidekicks? That's what she's getting out of this, and she nods her head at the explanation.

...And then gains a very worried expression when Cilan mentions that the Adjudicator has them.]

Wouldn't it make more sense to give those to you? He doesn't seem like the kind of person who takes good care of animals... [Or well, people even, but that's kind of beside the point.] Have you tried asking him for them back? He can't really be rude enough to leave those poor little guys all by their lonesome...maybe if you bring up how they need to be taken care of, he'll reconsider?

[cilantro]

I tried to ask for them back when we met him yesterday, but he was rather cold in regards to our concerns... still, I'm not going to give up on trying to get him to see reason here: Pokemon are living creatures, and they require proper care in order to keep them healthy and content.

[Sayaka nods her head, her face brimming with a surprising amount of seriousness.]

That's for the best, I think! He must be expecting us to just accept that things aren't going to change and that he's not gonna give any leeway to us--just keep asking him, and make sure you hold your ground every time.

[Thumbs up! ...She's probably too optimistic about it, but she's attempting to be inspiring.] Don't let up the pressure, and I'm sure he'll get them back to you soon!

[cilantro]

Mm, you're absolutely right.

[Cilan nods in agreement to that, smiling again.]

Thank you for the encouragement, Miss... ah, I'm sorry, I don't think I've asked for your name yet, have I?

[And no he's not gonna just go look at the board, that's just rude when he can ask a person directly for their name.]

Oh, I'm Sayaka Maizono! [...She's. Just realizing she probably should've introduced herself first, putting her head down.] I guess I'm not all that great at introductions, but I'm at least glad to help encourage others!

[She lifts her head with a smile, though looking at him...] I don't want to make any assumptions, so may I ask your name as well? I think I saw your profile, but I guess I'm just a little forgetful today...
