Week 1.

WEEK 1 Despite how unhelpful she seems, one thing has become very clear after talking to the Transmitter: there's no way out of here. It seems like you're stuck here for the time being and the rules the Transmitter told you about are still hanging in every room. You'll be left up to your own devices now – feel free to continue exploring and getting to know your fellow Patients for the next several days. Should you want to eat something you're free to use the kitchen before 10PM, but after that the doors will be locked and no amount of fussing with the locks or trying to break them down will get them to budge. However, your wake-up call in the morning isn't exactly a pleasant one - loud bursts of static over the intercom can be heard early in the morning, pulsing almost as though it's following some sort of pattern, though it isn't possible to discern exactly what that pattern might be. This will happen every morning at 7AM and again in the evenings at 10PM. You'll be able to hear it no matter what room you're in. There isn't any punishment for sleeping through it, but you don't want to waste the day in bed, now do you? (Unless you were out exploring all last night. In which case, go back to bed, damn.) PATIENTS REMAINING: 30

Never tried it. Never had much interest in music.

[He's never had much interest in anything besides the military.]

Someone here probably knows how to play though; maybe you can get them to teach you something.

[...it's not really all that surprising. He seems like the kind of person who would've been recruited to fight for Nohr easily, and he'd probably do well from the start.]

...I suppose that's a good idea. I'm not entirely sure where I'd start, though! No one here seems to be musically inclined...

[...she doesn't remember every detail on the profiles, admittedly, except on hers. Maybe it's something she missed? She wouldn't doubt that.]

I don't want to bother someone too much, either. Especially if there is another way out.

So far it seems like no one's found anything.

[Which is really frustrating, but he tries not to let it show in his voice.]

There's supposedly a rock star here; perhaps she'll know something about the piano.

I don't know if there's much else to find...everyone did quite a bit of looking yesterday, after all, and it doesn't seem like there's many places left to look at all.

[...wait, what.]

...What's a 'rock star'? I think that's... [Wait, she read the profiles, she thinks she remembers--] Do you mean Phyllis?

[It's pretty disappointing, isn't it. Krauser nods at that, but the questions have caught his interest.]

Yeah, Phyllis. A rock star's a musician who performs for a lot of people. They've made a business around making music and looking interesting.

[He nods to her picture for an example. This is also the most clinical way to explain something, but uh. He tried?? Oh god. Is it obvious this man has zero interest in music.]

[...on one hand, they. Absolutely did not get off to a good start. If anything, Felicia's worried she would probably accidentally get into a fight with her rather than ask her to help learn how to play a song...

But on the other, it would probably be helpful. Rock stars sound like dancers or songstresses, so maybe it would be a good idea to do that.

...Felicia's gaze averts while she thinks, likely giving away that something is up, but she'll look back up with a nod.]

They sound like someone you would see performing in Cyrkensia, so that makes sense! I'll see what I can do--I'd really love to learn how to play this properly. Maybe Lady Corrin would be happy to have someone who can play music for her...

[He watches Felicia quietly, taking note of that.]

Something else on your mind?

[She didn't seem completely distracted, of course, but that hesitation there is interesting.]

[...She wasn't expecting him to call her on that and it shows in how she jolts a bit, but...well...]

Well...she and I didn't really start off on the best foot. We were all very confused, and I think we just managed to get under each other's skins very easily.

[...it's a long and stupid story.]

[You know, he's having a hard time imagining how Felicia could get under someone's skin, but he can absolutely understand how Pizzazz could snap easily.]

There are probably others who know how to play the piano as well. Just ask around; surely you'll find someone who can help.

[blunders]

I'll certainly ask around. It'll be a great way to get to know people more, too.

[It seems like it to her, at least.

...Still, actually--she'll turn around in her spot from the piano, away from it, and look a little more clearly at Krauser.]

Hey...do you enjoy what you do? Your mercenary work, I mean.

[armamenta]

[Well, that's a random question.]

I do, yeah. Why do you ask?

[well to be truthful she just wants to take a break from pianoing but]

I guess I'm just curious! I haven't really fought before, except during training--it seems like it would be very stressful to put something like that to practice, right?

[armamenta]

[Oh, she's new at this...]

Yeah, it's not nearly as easy as it seems. Training is one thing and if you're confident there that can definitely help. Sparring's a completely different battlefield though. I won't lie to you, your first fight's going to be very difficult.

[It was for most of the people he's seen, anyway.]

[blunders]

[Oh...yeah, the thought of that makes Felicia shudder a bit. She's definitely been hoping that she would never have to actually fight, but...]

No, that makes sense, I think. Because it's...it's not just practice. You have to put everything you have into it, otherwise you'll...

[Well. Die, basically.]

...It sounds like it would be very unsettling, to have to fight for your life.

Some people just aren't cut out for it.

[And then there are the people like Krauser, who thrive on it. Who can't imagine their lives without that kind of pressure.]

Don't let that deter you, though. If you want to fight for Corrin's sake, then let that motivate you. Don't give up before you've tried it.

[Because for all you know you could be the best damn member of the army.]

[...That first bit does cause Felicia to become downcast for a moment--maybe she isn't cut out for it after all--but when Krauser mentions Corrin again, it's like a spark reignites in Felicia's eyes, and she instantly bobs her head with a determined expression.]

Of course! If it's for Lady Corrin's sake, I feel like I could do anything! And...and I will, to make sure she's safe!

[Yeah, he thought that might be what would motivate her. He can't imagine ever being so loyal to one person, but hey, if it works.

Yeah, I'm not surprised to hear that. You focus on your training and you focus on her and I'm sure you'll do just fine. Just remember that the first battle's the worst. It'll get easier from there.

[Sometimes people don't like it when it gets easier?? But that's weird so it's probably not worth mentioning it!!!]

Of course! As long as that battle doesn't come here, I'm certain that I'll be able to do it. I'll put that training to good use!
