Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

Given her title, it's likely there's some kind of transmission involved, but it's a method that she wasn't able to explain to me...not because she wouldn't, but because she couldn't, from my understanding of it. I had actually been wondering about this, but, on the topic of transmissions, it seems almost as though she's more of a receiver than a transmitter, does it not? Or, at the very least, a transceiver.

...Er, to put that more simply, to those who might not be aware. A transmitter and a receiver are two parts of a whole communications device; the transmitter sends messages to the receiver, and the receiver turns those messages into output that we can hear. A transceiver, by comparison, both sends messages and receives them, which seems a bit more like what's happening here...

Do you think you and I need saving from different things, Kogami? I'm not sure I agree.

Well, a couple of things. I don't think most people here would be willing to do something like that, no matter what they offer us. I know two people have, but that's still a really small number of the group. Besides, as each week goes on, we all get to know each other better, so it gets even less likely...

...Yes. [ He takes a deep breath to quell his rising anger. ] It's a forgery made by my adoptive father.

[There's a notable pause when Rin throws that out there.

So, she's been watching... Honestly, it gives him an uncomfortable shiver.]

Couldn't it be that we're the receiver here, though? She's been fairly forthcoming with what she can share.

[ . . . Also PS she's totally sitting next to you and aiming to hold your hand. ]

I've managed to annoy her as well.

[ She says proudly. ]

Oh. That must be it. I haven't ever been the most respected machine there. [He sounds a bit bitter about that] One time I almost got a job in the manufacturing section, but the foreman chose an exact copy of himself instead of me! He just--he went out of the room, and then his copy entered and said he had gotten the job, can you believe that? That was a bloody outrage, mate!

Rin hands Ryoji her envelope, corners crumpled, and gets to her feet. Should he open it, he'll find the words printed on it a direct match to what she's quoting now.]

"Rin Tohsaka is a mage."

I don't care anymore, if all of you know, but I can't afford to let that secret get out to anyone outside this room.

[It looks like Rin might walk away; certainly, she's putting distance between herself and anyone else here now, but she'll turn back at the last moment to face Ryoji.]

If we don't have a way out of here by this Friday, I will act on the incentive.

[She pauses for a moment, but for some reason, that makes her smile. Weird.]

I hope he and I are right, then.

QQ didn't get much that would work for this. Unless you think hairy caterpillar and strange rock could be used? There's also this...strange mechanical thing? Not sure what it is though.

Yes, that's true; after talking to her for a bit, you start to get a sense of what's off-limits versus what she can divulge. But it seems more like she's receiving messages and interpreting them to us, rather than the messages originating from her, in cases like this.

Have you tested her memory before now?

[ She's not making a show of the hand holding this time, more just... holding the hand. ]

What's your favorite thing she's made you so far?

[ by the looks in her eyes she's ... well, she's kinda doubting that a bit, but either way, a soft exhale and- ]
