Week 6.

WEEK 6

You've all been spared from the zombie apocalypse, but at the cost of three lives. Albert Wesker, Nozomi Kaminashi, and Jack Krauser are no longer with you. The Transmitter's rules are set in stone, and not even self-defense or trying to save the group will spare you from execution.

So where do you go from here?

Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

But another week - or, perhaps, another successful trial - means another new corridor is available to you, jutting out from the rest of the building and leading to the north. Given the structure of the rest of this place, it begs the question: just how large is this building?

More than a third of your number is dead. Are you going to run out of hallways first, or people to explore them?

PATIENTS REMAINING: 19

[OOC: Welcome to week six of Trustfell! Feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget to save those threads for coins and the activity check!

If you'd like to get in contact with the Transmitter, you can do so through text or the phone in your room!]

Worms? No, this is—wait.

[Putting a fist to her mouth, Rin frowns. No joke, it's an amazing coincidence she had a certain conversation with Lovecraft on Monday, or she legitimately wouldn't have thought of this.]

...There was a man ten years ago; Kariya Matou. [Rin's expression is somehow pained bringing him up, as if she's suddenly uncomfortable in her own skin.] The last time I saw him with my own eyes he was controlling a swarm of flying insects, or at least that's what I thought they were. In hindsight, it's possible they were worms.

[ Oh dear... she doesn't know. Even with his stunted feelings of social decency, he knows he should not be the one to break this to her.

George walks over to the bed and sits down before he goes on talking. ]

Might that be her grandfather? Because that person has this ability for sure. And used it on her.
heritrix: (confliiiiiict)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-07-15 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[...Used it on her? Oh, they'll come back to that in a second, but Rin is focused on getting the facts straight for now. She shakes her head.]

No. Her grandfather's name is Zouken. Kariya would have been... [She pushes past the lump in her throat.] We always called him uncle, but when Sakura was adopted, that's what his literal relationship would have been to her, on paper. He was Zouken's Matou's youngest son.

.. I see.

[ That's one messed up state of family affairs here, but he doesn't have time to understand all of the nuances here. ]

The ability might be hereditary in that case.
heritrix: (listen up class)

[Rin shakes her head again.]

If it were, the Matou bloodline would have died out, and Sakura would be worthless to them. By birth, she's a Tohsaka.

[She raises a finger.] Blood is critical to mage families, but we're not born with our abilities. Magecraft is learned. What's learned by the head of the mage family is then passed down their heir, and to that person's heir and so forth, either when the head of the family dies or decides to step down.

[This might seem like worthless information, but if it's true Zouken, Kariya, and Sakura all use worms, she thinks it's related. Rin starts rolling back the sleeve of her left arm.

For a moment, it looks like a perfectly normal arm, but then it starts glowing from elbow to wrist, like an intricate tattoo. It's also not as complete as it looks in the picture. Like a drawing that was stopped before completion, about 1/5 of the design is missing towards her elbow.]

It's called a Magic Crest. By these means, we accumulate our ancestor's knowledge and spells into our own bodies, and can use them as if they were always our own.

[personal profile] georgeous 2017-07-15 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ He eyes the Magic Crest with a lot of interest for a moment. The situation is serious, but right now you can see the passion for the paranormal written on his face.

This is a whole system of supernatural experiences that is completely nonexistent in his world and in other circumstances learning more about it would be incredibly tempting, but... ]

... have you ever heard of a mage controlling another through their abilities?
heritrix: (don't even think about it)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-07-15 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I wanted to ask you about that. [She answers her question with one of her own.] This will go smoother if you explain to me what you meant, when you said Sakura's grandfather "used" that ability on her.

[She can postulate all ways someone could control another, but those aren't really relevant here, and so far as she knows not be relevant within a mage family.]
georgeous: (Miffed)

[personal profile] georgeous 2017-07-15 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
[ He nods. ]

She has not told me a lot. But what I know is that her grandfather implaneted those worms into her body. He controls her that way. Whenever he desires so or she 'runs low on mana', she loses control over her abilities.

[ The way he says this makes it obvious that 'mana' is a very foreign concept to him, the worms... actually less so. But that's the thing when you read too many monster conspiracies. ]

The reason she wants to stay in the hospital is because her power is suppressed here and she won't hurt anyone with it.
heritrix: (from stun to kill)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-07-15 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Rin freezes. There's a thought churning behind her eyes, and ugly one she doesn't want to believe.]

...You said they were "implanted"? Those were the words Sakura used.

[A simple concept. You wouldn't think she'd need him to repeat it, but she speaks these words very slowly, like she didn't understand.]
georgeous: (It's serious)

[personal profile] georgeous 2017-07-16 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ... there is something really strange about the fact that Sakura would tell him before she'd tell her sister, but goes to show how good he is at prying.... probably? ]

Yes. Implanted.
heritrix: (can't unsee)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-07-17 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rin stands there for a moment, very still as a dozen puzzle pieces slide together. Stiff as a board, she doesn't make a sound, even as something prickles behind her eyes like dawning horror, and the color drains from her face.

And then mechanically, with a calm that's too rigid to be natural, Rin walks to the bathroom door and shuts it behind her, the sound of retching trailing but a few moments after.]
