Week 8.

WEEK 8 Despite the week of peace - or in some cases, because of it - it seems that the stream of deaths is going to continue unabated; if anything, there's been a sharp uptick this week. Yuri Lowell, Angel Hyperion, Naoto Shirogane, Aymeric de Borel, Isaac McDougal, and Ferid Bathory have all joined the deceased. In one week, you've dropped from over half your original number being alive, to almost two-thirds being dead. But surely things can only go up from here on out, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Another set of doors has opened up, once again branching off of the eastern corridor and leading toward the south. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've definitely earned it this week. [ Oh, right, the crepes! Katniss pauses, considers the plate in front of her, then flashes him a grin. ]

Yeah, of course.

[And now: cooking, with Luca.]

This is the batter over here. Look at it, and tell me what you notice about it. What is different about it, compared to pancake batter?

[ Uhhhh. ]

... It's more liquid...y?

[notaccurate]

That is right. It is called...ah...viscosity.

[He actually switched to Italian to say that word, but nobody can tell when he switches anyway, so.]

That refers to how well something flows. This crepe batter has a higher viscosity than pancake batter does. And because of that, it spreads out thinner on the pan.

[Don't mind him he's just making a crepe now.]

So, a crepe will cook faster than a pancake, but it is less filling. Which is why we roll it up and fill it with fruit and cream cheese.

Huh.

[ And she's just watching him with interest. She's got her elbows on the counter, chin propped up by her hands. ]

So it's only sweet stuff you can put in there?

Normally, yes. Some people use bitter fruit, but it is still fruit.

[If nothing else, he does have a flair for design. The crepes he is making, they both look and smell delicious.]

[ She nods, still watching him carefully. Crepes are, apparently, serious business...! ]

They smell really great, Luca.

[Very serious.]

They taste better than they smell, too.

[ OH BOY FOOD, her favorite. Katniss takes the plate and plops some of those blackberries inside, but it... needs something else. ]
