WEEK 2 With the deaths of Sayaka Maizono and Mallick Scott the first week draws to a close. While you all have varying opinions on what happened and who was to blame, one thing's for sure: the Adjudicator isn't messing around. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; those massive double doors on the southern wall of the foyer have opened up, leading down another hallway and ending in what looks like another corridor to the west. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done. Or perhaps for just playing the game. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 28

[Huh. Hi there, Katniss. That's strange, Naoto thought she had closed the door. Looks like she didn't]

What do you mean?

[She's kind of nervous as if she was caught doing something she shouldn't be doing]

You're waving a sword around and saying weird stuff.

[ At least she's honest...? ]

Oh. Yes. This sword and...all that.

[Naoto puts the sword away. Way to go, you got her to be embarrassed]

It's nothing, I thought learning some swordsmanship would be a good enough way to pass some time.

[She's really trying to sidestep the rest of the question, it seems!]

[ She's good at that, sometimes. ]

It's not a bad idea. Maybe no one will mess with you then.

I'm not sure it'll be of much help. It isn't like I'll be able to carry this sword around with me all the time.

...

...and some people may not tolerate others having a weapon like this around.

You don't have to. Just let them know you can take care of yourself.

I can do that. I have confidence in my own survival skills in any situation.

[She does! Except when she willingly lets her guard down, but there are no plans to do that here]

Not a lot of people can say that.

[ ... ]

What kinds of survival skills?

[fortunatedetective]

My wits, mostly. Staying calm in any situation is the first step to survival. Besides, being a detective needs me to stay aware of my surroundings. I doubt anyone will be able to approach me with ill intentions.

[Awareness demonstrated by her failure to close the door. Very aware, see?]

[ ... Katniss shares that thought, basically. ]

Maybe you should make sure your door's closed when you're not expecting visitors.

[ Just a friendly suggestion. ]

Yes. That was a slight flaw in my otherwise vigilant behavior.

[In the context of roleplaying it's even more ridiculous, judging by the number of threads: she forgot to close the door four times]

I assure you I intend that to never happen again.

[Naoto approaches to the door and closed it. Yes, she made sure it was closed. Then she takes an object from her trunk. It's a makeup compact, pink, with a heart on top and very used, judging by its content]

I found this in the game room not too long after it opened. It was inside one of the cabinets, behind a pile of boardgames. I don't think it belongs to anyone who was kidnapped.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to progress much with this clue. I don't have what I need for that.

[ Katniss studies it, then holds out her hand for it. ]

Can I see it?

[fortunatedetective]

Go ahead.

[It's a sign of trust!]

Of course, please remember this is a secret for now. However...I also need of another makeup compact. If you ever find any, please lend it to me.

[flagitate]

[ Katniss takes it and studies it. It's the kind of pretty thing she thinks Madge might like. ]

Yeah. Of course. [ Once she's examined it, she hands it back to Naoto. ] Whoever lost it must've really loved it.

[fortunatedetective]

So it seems!

[Naoto puts it back inside the trunk, hiding it behind some junk from the vending machine]

I intend to ask Juri-san about it at some point, but it'd have the risk of alerting him that there are strange objects around. It could prompt him to be more careful, and we need him to be as careless as possible. It's quite the dilemma.

[As far as Naoto knows, Juri isn't exactly doing this because he wants to, and he's willing to answer questions. It's worth a try]

I wouldn't ask him about it.

[ Naoto's good with this stuff, and she's not really surprised. Detective, and all of that. ]

If you do, he'd hide stuff that could help us.
