Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

[Hey, Ryoji. Krauser pauses when Ryoji speaks up, nodding a bit.]

I've been training for years, I'd be disappointed if I wasn't good.

[cadmiums]

Wow, really? [ Stands back, admires a bit.]

I don't know how to shoot a bow or anything like that. [ This is probably not something he should be admitting here, oh well.]

[armamenta]

[Glances over at Ryoji...]

Probably not something you should admit in a place like this.

[Just in case someone decides they want to pick an easy target or something.]

Mmm, you're right but I don't think that would be too hard to figure out. I'm just a high school student and not a professional like you or Kogami.

Unless you want to teach me?

[armamenta]

[Krauser pauses at that, staring at the target for a moment before looking back to Ryoji.]

...Sure. Let's see how quickly you can pick it up.

[And how bad he is at teaching, because he's never done this before. But it's not like he has anything better to do and it'll pass the time, so why not.]

[cadmiums]

OK! Where do I start? [ He'll walk on over and pick up the bow in completely the wrong manner because he's never held one before. This might be an adventure.]

[armamenta]

[Oh boy. This is absolutely going to be an adventure, and one we're going to handwave because I don't know anything about archery!!

Krauser's not a particularly good teacher and he's not exactly the most patient man here, but he'll give Ryoji pointers and give examples of what to do, so maybe eventually you'll be able to pick something up? Maybe...???]

[ Good we're in the same boat!!!

...and though it takes a while he does seem to pick up the bare basics, as it looks like he's a fast learner. It's an improvement from not knowing anything at all at least, though whether he will actually be able to hit something aside from a lucky shot is a mystery. ]

I don't know if I'll ever be really good at this. [ He just. Doesn't like the way holding a bow feels?]

It takes a lot of practice and dedication. If you don't enjoy it, you won't improve.

[Maybe you're just not an archer!!]

...what other things could I learn for self-defense, then? [ He is totally not!]

[armamenta]

I'm sure you could ask around and get some other ideas, but knives seem to be everyone's default here.

[Which makes sense given that there aren't a lot of other weapons around.]

[cadmiums]

I don't think I would like using knives either, except for cooking. I guess I don't really need to find something. [ He's been lucky so far!]

[armamenta]

Watch your back, then.

[It's fine if Ryoji doesn't want to fight, but he needs to be careful to avoid the people who will.]

[cadmiums]

I haven't had any problems with anyone. Or were you thinking of someone in particular?

[armamenta]

We don't know who will snap next so it's good to stay cautious of everyone.

[...except you're the type to befriend everyone, aren't you.]

[cadmiums]

I don't think I could ever do that. [ A beat.] Even if I could, it's too late to change things now.

[armamenta]

Try to be careful. You could end up dead if you're willing to trust everyone.

[cadmiums]

Everyone dies, no matter what path in life they take.

[armamenta]

That's surprisingly dark, coming from you.

[ryoji are u ok]

[cadmiums]

Is it? [ He blinks a bit.]

...Am I wrong?

[armamenta]

No, you're not. Death is inevitable. That doesn't mean that you should die quickly, though.

[cadmiums]

I don't want to but-- [ He pauses, turns his scarf over in his hands.]

I guess I've never really considered fighting it before.

[armamenta]

[Krauser watches for a moment before setting his bow aside.]

I plan to live for as long as I can. I don't want to die in this place and I'll do everything in my power to prevent that. Someday I will die, but that day won't be any time soon.

You shouldn't die here either.

[It's sort of blunt, but what were you expecting from this man.]

[cadmiums]

[ Oh that's-- he blinks, then smiles.]

Thank you, Krauser. [ He pauses, clearly thinking about something.] I'll do my best.

Yeah. I figured you would.
