Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

Oh. Ohh! [ QQ copies that clap with a big smile on her face. ] Yes, QQ agrees! Can get started on preparations right now if you want.

[She nods.] We still have time to kill before tonight, but let's go over everything we want to accomplish now. Should we head to the kitchen now? I have pen and paper, if we want to make a to-do-list.

[positivespin]

Sure, let's go! Better to finish preparing early. Just in case we think of other stuff to add. [ Onward to the kitchen! ]

[And one Batman cutaway later!]

Okay, so obviously our first objective is still to wedge the kitchen doors open tonight.

[She writes that down on their to-do-list as #1. It's the most important, of course. Ahem. They'll have another chat about this later, once Rin has talked with Greed, but for now lets commit to being stupid!]

Right! And second objective is to leave stuff out to see what happens to it. Like food and something from vending machine.

[ At least this part won't lead to their untimely deaths! ]

What items have you received that you want to use for that? I got a pretty good haul, I think.

QQ didn't get much that would work for this. Unless you think hairy caterpillar and strange rock could be used? There's also this...strange mechanical thing? Not sure what it is though.

Well, we should test both organic and inorganic items, so why not? [Hm.] What does the mechanical thing look like?

Like... Um, hold on.

[ Somehow, QQ manages to produce a notebook and start sketching. One minute later, she has a decent drawing that approximates the look of the Portable Gaming System. ]

Oh, I got one of those too!

[Pointing! She looks kind of annoyed actually.]

And a game you could use. I hated it.

Games, huh... Technology sure is interesting!

[ As much as she wants to ask more about it, it can wait until after they finish hashing out preparations. ]

If you think it can be used, QQ can try to do something with it!

[ And give her a moment to think about how to say this part. Language is as hard as technology is interesting. ]

Was thinking stuff in sewing room can be used to attach rock to caterpillar? Can even make a small hat for it. That way we know it's definitely the same one we left.

That's clever, actually. Do you have more than one caterpillar? We could see if leaving one changed and one unaltered has an effect when they're left behind.

Ohh... QQ did get another, but gave it to Tall Guy in return for clothes. He seemed to like it.

[ She means Lovecraft... ]

[heritrix]

[There's so many tall guys, QQ, that doesn't help!! Well, not that it matters too much.]

That's okay, we could try with another object. Between us, do we have doubles of anything else?

[Rin turns over the sheet of paper she has, to make a list of all the items she got from the vending machine that she's willing to part with for this cause. They're probably written down in more general terms, but for reference here's what she's considering:

- Coconut
- Matchbox
- Kitty hairpin
- Star sand
- Golden gun
- Lilienthal’s Wings]

I'd say we should use that machine you have, but I got rid of it and the game it came with already.

[To Tsubasa, unless that gets rejected. In which case she's saving it for trade!]

Mm, doesn't look like it. Maybe we should use something from sewing room instead? Sewing more would be more work...but we can be sure it's something we put there.

[ As long as it's simple and crude, QQ's confident she can get it done before tonight. ]

If you're comfortable crafting something that might disappear, you're free to go ahead. Last week I ran a mini-experiment of my own, with a piece of fabric that was bloodied when Nachetanya cut her finger. I hid it, and when I came back to check the next day, it was gone.

[If that helps QQ decide.]

Don't mind. More information is fair price. And QQ isn't busy right now.

[ The only problem is whether or not she can make two things as close to identical as possible before alterations, but hey, it's not like she has anything pressing to do. ]

But that is interesting! At least we can add more info to go with that tonight.

[ Better to make a conclusion after they get their results! ]

Yeah. We might test out other rooms after this, depending on how things go.

But okay, so you'll make something in the sewing room, and we have these items I listed. The coconut is organic, but I think I'll bake something as well. Cookies, maybe?

[positivespin]

Ooh, how about milk? Milk and cookies go great together. Especially chocolate chip!

[heritrix]

Classic combination! Then we're decided?

[They can set out if so! Only to reconvene later tonight after Rin talks with Greed.]

Yes, understood! QQ will get started right away!

[ Setting out is a go!

She'll come back tonight with two tiny green fabric balls, one of which has a yellow bow sewn and wrapped around it like a present. Simple, but QQ didn't want to do anything too complicated and risk missing the deadline. Her sewing skills aren't that good after all. Just making these took a lot of effort and focus from her. But it's done, and that's what's important right now! ]

Rin, are you ready? QQ should be, except for anything last minute.

[heritrix]

Yeah, just putting on the final touches.

[She's distributed the items about. The coconut has been put on the counter, and the hairpin hidden in the fridge. On top of the fridge she's put the bottle of sand, and the other items have been put in both obvious and less obvious places throughout the room.

Rin is just plating the cookies when QQ comes in, keeping track of the time in her head. She'll need to get the milk next.]

But there's been a slight change of plans. We're not attempting to peek through the door tonight.

[positivespin]

Oh, did something come up? QQ thought that was one of the most important parts.

[ As she says that, she'll put the balls on a table for now until she takes another look around the kitchen. ]

[heritrix]

It was.

[Actually she looks frustrated for a moment, like she's about to change her mind twice over and say they're back on. But retrieving a glass from the cabinets, she finds her resolve again.]

But I spoke with Greed about it. He doesn't think the Risen will be as lenient about technicalities as I do, and that the punishment for breaking Rule 2 than what I'm imagining.

[positivespin]

[ She's about to wrap the caterpillar toy around a drawer handle, but she stops mid-wrap to think that over in her head. ]

Hmm...

[ Okay, Greed is one of the more level-headed people around here, so it's definitely worth hearing him out. Especially if he convinced Rin. ]

Greed definitely talks more to them than QQ does, so he would be a good judge of that. Was he pretty sure?
