Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

I have been...thinking about something...but it's nothing, forget that.

[The whole thing with the Risen and the Transmitter is something he doesn't fully understand, so he has been trying to equate it to something he's more familiar with. It's...not a pretty thing]

Then everyone in this world is of the same species than her. She could be anything. A human, a goat like Asgore...maybe even a human goat. No, forget that last one, that'd be unnerving.

Now that's a ridiculous notion. [Without emotion, she stares out the window into the swirling snow and fog.] I've never been in a world where that's the case. You might think you're seeing a human, for example, never knowing your eyes are lying to you.

[dangerousfool]

What? What looks like a human but isn't a human?

[This is very new to him. What nonsense are you talking about, Rin?]

[heritrix]

[Oh you sweet summer... robot thing.]

Machines like you aren't designed to deal with vampires, huh?

[dangerousfool]

Vampires don't exist.

[It takes him a moment to remember that, yeah, different worlds, different situations. Right. Maybe Rin's world has vampires]

...is that--you do that often? Fight vampires?

[She clasps her hands behind her back, staring out the window.]

The technical name for them is Dead Apostle. I've not met one myself, but my revered ancestor Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg is among their number.

[dangerousfool]

Wait, does that mean you're part vampire?

[He sounds amazed]

[heritrix]

Nope!

[She's something worse.]

He's not really my blood relative. My family respects him as our ancestor because he was instructor to the first head of the Tohsaka.

[dangerousfool]

That's great, it's for the better. I don't know much about vampires, but I do know it's good to have them on your side, they're--they're very tough. Your family is lucky to have him as your ancestor.

[Wow, the Tohsaka family history is so rich and strange...]

Now you make me wonder if the one human I know back at my facility has a history like yours. She's something else, that's for sure. Maybe she has strong ancestors too!

[heritrix]

[Rin beams with pride— for like a second, and then she has to stop and check herself. Why is she happy being praised by a robot?]

Th-Thank you? [The most unsure here. But oh well.] What is she like?

[He said he was a familiar, so maybe he means the person who created him.]

[dangerousfool]

She's quite the tough cookie! Not only she survived being dormant for years -- got a bit of brain damage but she's fine -- she also managed to get through the facility! Other humans have died, but she did it.

[Wheatley actually sounds proud of her. Mostly because he helped her]

And years ago she also...she had killed the big bad AI who controlled the facility? That's. Scary. But also good, I guess. The only human who was able to stand up to her, I think.

Almost imperceptibly, Rin stiffens.]

[Ignore that. She lets the rest of his words wash over her; chase the uncomfortable niggling in her heart away with those dulcet, annoying British tones (why is a robot British?).

The person Wheatley's describing really does sound incredible, even if she doesn't understand half the context of the obstacles she's overcome. What's so scary about this facility?]

You told me when we first met that you're an AI. Should you be rooting for her?

[dangerousfool]

Oh, I support the human. She didn't try to kill me right after waking up, unlike some other AI I know.

[Yeah, he didn't take kindly to being crushed and left to die. At least he's okay now]

Besides it's good, if she defeated that AI once, then she can do it again -- and I'll help her, I know the weaknesses and points we can exploit. I may not look like it, but I'm a great strategist, like Napoleon to the French army right when they tried to invade Russia.

Russia won that conflict decisively. Napoleon lost most of his army, and was humiliated even in the battles he won.

[dangerousfool]

...oh.

[Well that sure says a lot about Wheatley's strategist skills]

Let's pretend I didn't say that.

[She snickers. Yeah, that's definitely a thing to keep in mind.]

Well, whatever. Like you said, your human friend won before. If she can do it then she should be able to do it now, with or without your help. You just have to find some other way to support her.

[dangerousfool]

I'll remember more next time. Somehow, every Sunday I get new information into my memory. I can't wait for the next part, this is interesting.

Well, I mostly want to know if the human survived or died. I'm staying away from my world, now that the AI is awake again, there's no way I'll go back.

If you're also missing memories, isn't it possible that's no longer an issue and you've just forgotten?
