Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

[ Ryoji does not generally like getting up early, but seeing as he's doing his best Starbucks barista impression today he's here.]

Good morning Rin-chan! Oh, what's that? [ He's looking at the note with curiosity.]

[heritrix]

[Rin is totally here for that, for the record. Both because she can't wait to see Ryoji's best impression, and also because she is also not a morning person, so goddamn does coffee sound good.]

Morning, Mochizuki-kun.

[She hands him the note so he can read.]

I left a plate of cookies overnight among other things, to see what would happen to them. It looks like I got a thank you.

[cadmiums]

[......]

I wonder if we can leave other things. Would you like some coffee or tea to start off your morning?

[heritrix]

[Rin responds to this with a faceplant into a stack of hand towels up on the counter with her here.]

Pleeease.

[!!!!]

Rin-chan, are you OK? [ Going to try to gingerly touch her to make sure she's not out cold.]

[heritrix]

[No she's fine, and rolls her head to the side so she can peek at Ryoji from over her arm.]

You're not making the coffee?

[cadmiums]

I am, but I wanted to make sure you were alright first. [ But she seems okay? Going to start the coffee while glancing back at her every few seconds.]

[heritrix]

[She waves a hand in the air.]

I went to bed late and rose early, that's all. I'm not a morning person on the best of days. Low blood pressure.

[cadmiums]

Me either, but I just don't like getting up out of bed. [ While the coffee brews--]

Were you trying to stay up all night?

[heritrix]

[Rin shakes her head; which looks a bit awkward given her position on the counter.]

I'm always up late. Back home, I would be engaged in my studies well towards 2 o'clock in the morning. I haven't been able to break that habit yet.

[cadmiums]

That sounds like my weekends, except I'm usually hanging out instead. I don't think I could ever study that much!

[heritrix]

Oof. I'm an honor student with a reputation to uphold, so if I slacked off for more than a day it'd spell trouble for me.

[But she has her magic studies too, so that's twice the workload.]

[cadmiums]

You're really dedicated, Rin-chan. [ And coffee coming up! It's pretty good.]

[heritrix]

Mmm.

[She lifts her head, so she can take the cup into her hands with a mumbled thank you. The warmth sends a tingle through her palms, stimulating her even as the aroma under her nose perks her up. Careful not to scald herself, Rin takes a sip and pulls back, delighted.]

It's good! You made it so fast, too.

[Usually you lose the quality that way. Rin's impressed.]

Thank you! I haven't been brewing coffee that long, but I took to it pretty quickly. I prefer tea myself, though.

[heritrix]

Which are you better at making?

[cadmiums]

Coffee, I think! I know how make some simple latte art too.

[heritrix]

Wow, you've really gotten into it! [She wonders why, if he likes tea better.] Do you work in a coffee shop or something?

[cadmiums]

Yeah, I work in a cafe with my best friend Makoto. I kind of miss working, but I can serve nearly just as well here.

[heritrix]

I've done odd jobs like that during the summer before. Just waiting tables, of course, but the morning rush always felt hectic. No matter how hot it gets, people still come in for their coffee.

[cadmiums]

We serve mostly students and housewives, but I think it still gets busy in the morning. I only work the evening shift, aside from weekends, because of school.

[heritrix]

[Rin nods along with that; it's understandable.]

What are your favorite things about working there?

[cadmiums]

Working with my best friend, and the girls of course~.

[heritrix]

...I should have guess. You're as sociable as ever, Mochizuki-kun. I bet you get great tips.

[cadmiums]

Oh, we don't accept tips! I just like making sure that everyone has a good time.
