Week 3.

WEEK 3

Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place.

But surely no one else will give into them, right?

Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking.

Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time.

PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week three of Trustfell! Feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget to save those threads for coins and the activity check!

If you'd like to get in contact with the Transmitter, you can do so through text or the phone in your room!]

You make it sound like I want to understand you on a personal level.

[There's a joking tone, yet one would be able to tell that he's being partially serious, too.]

Sibyl is exactly how I've explained Sibyl. It governs us. It judges us. It makes our choices for our 'happiness' and the 'happiness' of society. We can't exactly fight it, yet a majority of people find peace in Sibyl's decision. After all, if the burden of making a choice is taken off of your shoulders, you have a lot less stress to deal with.
heritrix: (ehhhh)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-21 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
[She makes a humming sound to his first response, seemingly also finding the humor there, even if she doesn't smile. Touche, she knows neither one of them want that.

But as for the rest...]

Is there a book called 1984 still floating around in the future?
carnivorously: (61)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-21 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
If you're wondering if that's what my world is like, then yes, that would be an accurate representation-- almost as if it were some kind of morbid prophecy.

[Big brother is always watching. Thinkcrime is exactly why he's a criminal. It's alarming.]
heritrix: (majestic and shit)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-21 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Magecraft definitely wouldn't exist in a world like that...]

Maybe you'd be better off not going back to it. [She tilts her head.] Well, I know that's unacceptable for you.
carnivorously: (65)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-22 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps not.

[For some part of him, if he can get what he needs done, then he would be glad to just... not go back.]
heritrix: (break my heart)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-22 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
[That's not the answer she was expecting, and its enough to tear her eyes away from the archery targets.]

You really wouldn't go back? I thought there was something you wanted to do.

[Someone he wanted to kill.]
carnivorously: (74)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-22 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
From what I know, I'm going after the man already. If I can get confirmation that he's dead...

[...then maybe he won't have a place to go back to anymore and... maybe he'll need to escape. Maybe that's why he's unemployed.]
heritrix: (all-seeing)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-22 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
...I get it now. The missing memories.

You think you may have already accomplished your goal.
carnivorously: (60)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-22 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a possibility of that. Until I get confirmation, I can't say, however... given all the information on me here and the fact that we're missing memories the only conclusion I can make is that I accomplished my goal and Sibyl discarded me.
heritrix: (westside story)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-23 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
If Sibyl runs everything... What happens when they discard you? If the system makes your choices for you, it can't be a simple task to find new work again and continue to live normally.

[But she figures there must be a chance? Otherwise Kogami's occupation should have read something else besides unemployed.]
carnivorously: (22)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-23 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm lucky I have a job. Most latent criminals are locked up and isolated from the world. They're all unemployed.
heritrix: (I see what you did)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-23 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh. That answers that. Rin is careful not to show any extreme reaction on her face, but surprise still peaks there.]

What are they allowed to do down there? In my time, prisoners are still permitted to work, and receive visits from their families...
carnivorously: (74)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-23 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
They're still able to get most things they like. Most. It's not like they have things taken away from them and they're still allowed to be happy.

[He sighs.]

They're just no longer allowed to integrate into society-- at least until their hues clear and their crime coefficients go below one-hundred with no signs of it going above that mark.
heritrix: (two)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-23 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
You said you were lucky. [So...] I'm taking that doesn't happen often.
carnivorously: (87)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-23 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
The only job you can have as a latent criminal is an enforcer. The job I do right now. Basically, we hunt criminals. The reason we're chosen is because our crime coefficients and Psycho-Passes are already destroyed, so there's no risk in harming our mental health when we're on the job. We have inspectors who look over us, however, think of them as the masters and us as the hunting dogs. They tell us what to do as we hunt. At the end of the day, the responsibility lies on them if we fuck up, but also it's our job to ensure their protection.
heritrix: (minutes before welding)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-24 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
[She's getting a little irritated now on his behalf, but she keeps it in check. For now.]

How long did it take you, to get approved for that job?
carnivorously: (27)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-24 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Not very long. I was an inspector before that happened. Meaning I used to be the master before I became the dog, so I was already used to examining crime scenes and all that. By that time, I had already been a detective for over five years.
heritrix: (ho hum)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-24 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. That's somewhat better than what I was picturing.

[But only somewhat. She puts her hand on the wall, feeling the irregularities in its build.]

You said Sibyl judges you and makes all of your choices, so I thought it had determined that path from a younger age.

[So Kogami used to be a normal person, and then some tragic event five years ago shaped him into who he is today. It's awful, but preferable to the alternative in her opinion.]
carnivorously: (48)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-24 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
[To clarify, his fall from grace happened three years ago. By that time he had already been an inspector, a detective, for five years. So eight years of experience altogether!]

No, I had a bright future, according to Sibyl. I graduated pretty much top of my class and was recommended to all the ministries to work at. I wanted to be an inspector because my best friend in high school wanted to be one. We got into the field together and worked together as inspectors for five years...
heritrix: (concern)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-24 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Roger that!

From the way Kogami trails off, Rin gets the impression that the good memories are no less precious than they always were, but tinted with something painful.]

Something happened to him, didn't it?

[The timing seems too precise for it not to have. He'd been an inspector for five years before something changed his life; he was with his partner for only five as well.

It's a question, but Rin already feels like she knows her answer.]

You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.
carnivorously: (26)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-24 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, no.

[Probably not the answer she was expecting.]

He's one of my bosses now. If anything, he thinks I betrayed him and I earned his scorn. Our friendship was destroyed after I refused to get treatment.

[Then again, this wasn't the first time his friend was betrayed by someone close to him who ended up becoming a latent criminal. So, he feels like he deserves all that scorn.]
heritrix: (just a normal high school girl)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-24 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[In that light, she didn't hit the bullseye but she still hit the target she thinks. Though part of her wonders what treatment implies.]

How's that affected your working relationship?
carnivorously: (74)

[personal profile] carnivorously 2017-06-24 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Kogami shrugs.

It's one thing he doesn't really think about and doesn't want to talk about either, strangely enough.]

It is what it is.
heritrix: (snowfall)

[personal profile] heritrix 2017-06-24 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[So never what is used to be.

Rin could ask more, but it looks like Sakura has wrapped up her set. She'll be heading back this way in a moment to maintain her equipment, which means it's Rin's cue to go.]

You sound sure that it can't be fixed. If that's how all of your relationships are, no wonder you want to leave.

[Rin turns to leave, but gives him a smile over her shoulder.]

I hope either your memories prove that wrong, or if there's no escape, you find a better home to go back to. The universe is big enough; I'm sure somewhere there's a place even for you.

[And with that, she'll go.]
