Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

[While it's a bit on the early side for her, Sakura has long since accepted she isn't destined to get a full night's rest in this hospital, and drawing has become something of a hobby. She goes through the door--

And freezes like a startled deer. The fuck are you doing, good sir? It is too early in the morning for murder.]

[To be fair, that's pretty much a perfectly reasonable reaction to have in this place, although he doesn't look particularly perturbed by Sakura interrupting... whatever he's doing.]

Good morning. I apologize for the mess, but you're free to use the room if you like. I'm afraid I don't have any coffee left to offer you, though.

[Because Sakura is clearly interested about the coffee part, right?? Although honestly, he might be joking a little about that part.]

[She's more a tea lady herself, though the offer does a lot to calm her. At bare minimum, she feels it's okay to assume that she won't be shot with a crossbow.]

N-no, it's alright. [She gives him a quick bow before tiptoeing inside. The two of them having spoken much, so she doubles down on her shyness.]

... May I ask what you're doing in here?

[It's not hard to see how timid she looks, so he'll keep his tone conversational. No move towards the crossbow either, of course; he won't even look at it unless she gives him a reason to feel in danger, anyways.]

It's just a small investigation. [He'll gesture at one of the defaced canvases.]

I was wondering if these would be replaced.

[... Oooh, clever.

And worrisome. Sakura's eyes tick back and forth between the canvases and McGillis's face]

You were wondering if you'd see anyone... strange come in?

Something to that effect, yes. While it's naïve to think that they would show themselves so easily, it's good to have a confirmation.

[Stepping further into the room now, hands clasped down in front of her.]

So if it is a person replacing anything that's broken, somehow they realized you were in this room.

[aspiringly]

That would be one possibility. Another is that some used or damaged items aren't replaced immediately and I happened to be present on a day when they weren't scheduled to restock anything.

[He hasn't really been watching the art room obsessively prior to this, after all.]

Still, it wouldn't be too surprising if they were coordinating with the Transmitter in some fashion, just to avoid this kind of scenario.

[Well, her assumption is if he'd been caught, they'd probably would've killed him.

... Probably for the best that he failed]

Mm... I suppose the most thorough way to check would be to place everyone in different rooms with broken items and see if anything happens.

I admit I'd be interested to see if that generated any results. Unfortunately, I doubt that many others would be keen on participating, for perfectly understandable reasons.

Even still, this was a clever idea. I'm surprised no one else thought to try it.

Well, I'm sure there have been other concerns on everyone's minds. And while we might have an excess of free time, I doubt that staying awake on an endeavor that may not bear fruit is appealing.

Still, if you have any other observations that you've noticed about this place, it would be appreciated. I don't visit this room too often myself.

I haven't noticed anything off yet, but I admit, I haven't looked closely, either.

Thank you. Even something innocuous may turn out important later, so even if it doesn't seem particularly unusual, it may be worth the effort to note.

With that said, you come here to use the materials, correct? Have you ever left something half-finished behind?

Well, most of my drawings are half-finished, in a sense... just sketches. I've never tried to make an official piece that looked like it'd be completed later.

... But I could try today, if you'd like. One finished, and one unfinished.

Please. I don't have much in the way of artistic talent myself, so it would be appreciated. It would be interesting to see what you can do as well.

N-no... I'm afraid I'm not very talented.

He certainly has his own share of talent, but you shouldn't sell yourself short, either.

I wouldn't say no to having more samples, however.

I was planning on it, although I was finishing up my notes while the details were still fresh in my mind.

[Which is basically what the paper was for. They're mostly just observations about the room and tracking the inventory, though; nothing that Sakura wouldn't be able to check on her own time.]
