Week 3.

WEEK 3 Grace and Doug are dead. It seems that there isn't anything more to do but mourn your losses and try to move forward. The Transmitter's rules still hang in every room, a reminder of the only means of escaping this place. But surely no one else will give into them, right? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, however, it seems your efforts won't go unrewarded; another set of corridors have opened up, much in the same fashion as the other new area did last week. With them come new rooms to explore; maybe some of them will be to your liking. Or perhaps it's better to say that hopefully some of them will; after all, if the Transmitter gets her way, you may be here for a very, very long time. PATIENTS REMAINING: 26

That's astute of you.

[ she's the first to question it. ]

In the Wailing Demon Territory, the poison from the Evil God is so strong any normal human would die within hours. The crest makes us immune to that, so we can venture into it.

[heritrix]

[That's actually amazing. Rin wonders if she could create something similar in theory, if she were back home...]

So that gives you one advantage, but it's more akin to leveling out the playing field. You can survive far enough to reach the Evil God. Since it's a positive and a negative, they cancel out and put you back at zero.

[nachetanya]

Yes.

And that's why the Goddess of Fate only selects the six strongest warriors in the world to become the Braves of Six Flowers.

[Oho.]

You really are that impressive then. It's no wonder you survived.

[nachetanya]

[ She sort of shrugs at that, but then winces at that hurts her shoulder on her severed left arm. She exhales, shaking her head. How she survived...

Sakura... ]

... Yes. I do wonder what came of things, after that. [ She... ] Or how they found me. I remember screaming, but then my throat was crushed.

[heritrix]

[But it looks fine now. Huh... Still, the description is horrific, and Rin's mouth tightens. ]

I assume these are minions of the Evil God who captured you. But that begs the question of why they didn't take the chance to kill you, for the threat you represent.

[nachetanya]

The most likely answer would be to entrap the others. [ She... ] Really, the better answer would be to leave me to it, but I know that Goldov and probably Adlet wouldn't allow for that.

[heritrix]

Your other companions don't think highly of you?

[If she only has one definite and one maybe, that doesn't speak well to their bond. In a typical fashion at least; it makes perfect sense to Rin as a mage.]

[nachetanya]

If i'm captured... If I'm captured and have a missing arm, it doesn't matter if they think highly of me or not. I can't speak for Hans or Chamot, but Maura at least would be sympathetic. But she's more than responsible enough to know that winning against the Evil God comes first.

[ She exhales. ]

It depends on how much danger my capture presents.

[heritrix]

They may be forced to act pragmatically, in other words.

[Rin sighs.]

That's tough. If you're rescued, do you think you can continue to fight without your arm?

[nachetanya]

Do you think I'm unable to fight now?

[ she asks with a little smile. ]

[heritrix]

Here and there have different circumstances. You're the one who claimed to be fighting an Evil God for the sake of humanity. That's going to be more difficult than giving Krauser a wedgie.

[nachetanya]

[ She nods ] I still have my balance and my main sword arm - with my rapier and my saint abilities, I could still be useful, I'm sure.

[heritrix]

What are your saint abilities? Your profile calls you a Saint, but until you mentioned it just now I didn't know what all that entails.

[nachetanya]

You know, if I'm telling you this much, I feel as if I should ask you to tell me about your position as "supervisor."

[heritrix]

[Nachetanya is the first person to ask Rin about this, actually.]

It's pretty boring, most days.

[nachetanya]

Even so, I am a little curious. After all, you must have some responsibilities.

[heritrix]

Yes and no. Officially, I've been the supervisor since I was seven, but I was too young to handle any of the responsibilities at the time.

Over the past few years I've come into my own and handle things properly by my own merits, but there are still some matters that are attended to by my guardian.

[nachetanya]

Ah... But what are the responsibilities?

[ That's not too dissimilar to her own throne, really. ]

[heritrix]

It's a bit complicated to explain. My position isn't like that of nobility, or a simple mayor and the like. As the title would indicate, I just supervise.

It's like saying "you there, you're in charge of all the cats in this town, and cleaning up after them if they make a mess".

[nachetanya]

[ . . .Cats???

She shakes her head ]

Ah, I see.

[ She doesn't see anything, but she is about to yawn, so - ]

... I should probably return to bed. I hope you can find more answers.

[heritrix]

[Phew, dodged a bullet there. ...Even if the response Rin gave her made perfect sense in her own head. She laughs a bit, as if she found her own explanation funny.]
