Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.

[Well, that was one hell of a trial. Kogami’s tired and hungry. He’ll get his staple hamburgers, but maybe he’ll be nice enough to help make some for everyone.

So there’s a note that goes out:]

Food in the dining hall – K, P, Q, & R

[It’s quickly written and straightforward.

And indeed there is food. There’s a shitton of hamburgers made by Kogami and Rose, the sliced cheese prepared by Pizzaz, and cake by QQ. Pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and other such condiments are set out as well as an assortment of buns.

There’s not lighted candles this time, so it’s clear that the usual preparers didn’t help with this ‘buffet’. (Well, if it wasn’t clear with the note).

So rest, relax, and well, you’re probably going to have to get your own drinks this time, sorry…]

No?

[He sweeps over and settles himself on the other side of the bench. This probably wouldn't work with anyone else, but Wheatley's body takes up so little space as it is.]

I have known many scientists who enjoyed music. There is quite a bit of mathematics in it, or so I'm told.

Maths in...music? How?

[He chuckles.]

Golly, you would be better off asking someone else! I believe it is in the sounds we find pleasing - they relate mathematically to each other, like a well-built archway.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but it sounds logical.

[And that's good enough. Wheatley presses on a few keys]

Let's see, these are the low notes, the high notes are over there...in theory, pressing anything is good enough, as long as it's fast. That's how music works...right?

[He's just guessing, hah]

Some songs are fast, but many are not. It is more a matter of pressing them in an order that makes a song. Let me see... [He glances over the keys for a second, then starts to press some to play a simple melody. They're small enough that he needs to use a claw, but they're blunt, that's no trouble.]

My son plays this often, ever since his mother taught him. It is his favorite song!

[That's pretty sweet, yeah. Wheatley listens and tries to imitate it, remembering what each key was suppsed to sound like. It's going...rather slowly, maybe he just needs time to get used to it?]

I think I see why he likes it, it sounds kind of nice.

Simple to play, as well. Toriel plays more complicated songs, but I have never taken the time to devote myself to the instrument as she has.
