Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.

[Well, that was one hell of a trial. Kogami’s tired and hungry. He’ll get his staple hamburgers, but maybe he’ll be nice enough to help make some for everyone.

So there’s a note that goes out:]

Food in the dining hall – K, P, Q, & R

[It’s quickly written and straightforward.

And indeed there is food. There’s a shitton of hamburgers made by Kogami and Rose, the sliced cheese prepared by Pizzaz, and cake by QQ. Pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and other such condiments are set out as well as an assortment of buns.

There’s not lighted candles this time, so it’s clear that the usual preparers didn’t help with this ‘buffet’. (Well, if it wasn’t clear with the note).

So rest, relax, and well, you’re probably going to have to get your own drinks this time, sorry…]

I suppose the best way to go about making it a foolproof alibi would have been to involve a third party, but, that involves its own set of risks, and the side effects of the medication that you used ended up corroborating your account more than anything. ...You made the most out of a set of very unfortunate circumstances, and did what you thought was best, based on the information you had and your gut feeling.

Rin-san may not agree, of course, and whether or not it was an entirely "good" decision is subjective, but I think it's something worth standing your ground over, Matou-san.

[The objectiveness of Tsubasa's claims helps, actually. Stripping some of the emotion away from her actions, and Sakura can't very well say she would've acted differently.

... No, it's more than that. There's a difference between guilt and regret. Sakura's just trying to square with that]

Yes... and I don't think we can afford to lose Tohsaka-senpai yet. [She glances down at her mug of coffee] She's become a valuable asset in solving these cases.

I'd agree with that. While there are others here who contribute significantly to solving these cases, Rin-san's insight is quite something, indeed. While I believe that we all make rather significant contributions to the group dynamic as a whole, Rin-san's quick-witted rationale is incredibly useful to have.

But beyond her usefulness in these cases, I can understand wanting to protect the people who are close to you.

Close to me?
