WEEK 5
Another week has passed; another two people have died. Tsubasa Hanekawa and Nachetanya Loei Piena Augustra have joined the ranks of the deceased. Whatever you may have thought about them in the end, one thing hovers heavy over the group: the fact that neither their compassion nor their ambition was enough to keep them alive in here.

Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

And of course, with another successful trial comes a new addition to the building, another corridor opening up on the west side of the building. The doors leading to it branch off of the hallways leading to the second and fourth sections of the building; have those doors always been there? You can't remember...

It's a new week. Of course, that means you've been here for over a month, and your stay doesn't seem to be coming to a close yet.

Well, if you aren't upset about it... T-Then I'll just have to be upset about it for you.

[He honestly can't help but smile and chuckle at that.]

I guess I can't stop you from doing that. I can't deny that a part of me is still upset at Sibyl. I've just given up getting results that benefit me.

I think most people would be upset in that situation, so it's understandable... But maybe sometime soon you'll remember things turning around for you.

You're really optimistic, you know that?

[He looks at his monitor with his hostage on there.]

That reminds me of her a lot. She's always thinking positively.

Yeah, a few people have said the same...

[She follows his gaze, her head tilting slightly in curiosity.]

Would you tell me more about her? If you're willing, that is.

Tsunemori? Sure.

[His expression grows fond and his voice matches.]

She's a bright young lady. Top of her class. Came in first day of the job and decided she knew how she was going to run things. At first she was pretty sheepish, but she held strong in her opinions. Honestly, I can't help but respect her. She treated me like a human-- an equal-- from the get go. She's tough. Really tough. And the more days she got on the job, she got meaner. She threatened to shoot me in the leg with a revolver once if I disobeyed her.

[He chuckles a little at that.]

She's got a bold personality hiding behind how cute she looks.

[She can't help but smile when she notices how openly fond he seems, glancing back towards the monitor as he continues on.]

She sounds really cool! So she's a detective, just like you?

[Wait.]

...She didn't actually shoot you, did she?

Yes, she's a detective, too. I taught her all she needs to know.

[And he got yelled at too because they feared she'd become a latent criminal, oops. But she didn't!]

And no, she didn't. Not with a revolver, at least.

I bet the two of you are really close. It's nice to hear that you get along so well... And if she's as tough as you said, she'll definitely be okay!

[A pause.]

Did she, um, shoot you with something else?

Yes, she will be. I know she will be. There's nothing that stops her once she's set her mind on something.

[And he's grateful for it. She's been his saving grace so many times.]

She's shot me with my time's equivalent of a taser. The only difference is that these knock you out instead of leaving you immobile for a few seconds.

[She nods at his first statement, but it's the second part that she comments on.]

I guess that's better than a bullet, but... Why did she do that?

Because I was about to kill an innocent woman.

[As simple as that.]

[The blunt response takes her by surprise, but there's one question that comes to mind immediately.]

Why?

Because her Crime-Coefficient was over 300. Sibyl told me to kill her.

[That's all it boils down to.]

[She makes a face, but it shifts to a simple frown after a few moments.]

...I'm glad you didn't. Your boss didn't get in trouble for stopping you, did she?

She did, actually. It was her first day on the job. Gino, both of our superior, got on her and asked her to write a report.

[He smiles.]

I defended her, however, and everything was dropped.

I'm glad it got resolved easily... What happened to the woman who almost got killed?

Her Crime-Coefficient lowered so that she was just hit with a non-lethal paralyzer. From what I was told, she had received therapy and was able to go back out into society.

That's wonderful... O-Or at least way better than the alternative. I'm glad to hear it.

Yeah, me too. I'm glad I was stopped before I ended her life when that wasn't necessary.

[She smiles to herself, looking at the ground.]

This kind of thing is why I keep saying you're a good person, you know.

[...]

If I wasn't stopped, I would have killed her.

Because you felt like you didn't have a choice, right? But... You didn't want to, and you're happy she's still alive.

[He totally had this conversation with Tsunemori... he totally did...]

She was either going to kill me or I was going to kill her. That's what I felt back then. No, I didn't want to kill her, but if it was my life versus her life, my life took priority.

If you felt like it was self defense... Then you're not a bad person for not wanting to die, Kogami.
