Week 5.

WEEK 5 Another week has passed; another two people have died. Tsubasa Hanekawa and Nachetanya Loei Piena Augustra have joined the ranks of the deceased. Whatever you may have thought about them in the end, one thing hovers heavy over the group: the fact that neither their compassion nor their ambition was enough to keep them alive in here. Is yours? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... And of course, with another successful trial comes a new addition to the building, another corridor opening up on the west side of the building. The doors leading to it branch off of the hallways leading to the second and fourth sections of the building; have those doors always been there? You can't remember... It's a new week. Of course, that means you've been here for over a month, and your stay doesn't seem to be coming to a close yet. PATIENTS REMAINING: 22

Depending on your definition of what Chinese food tastes like, I may doubt even that. Those words certainly are ominous.

Ninety-nine percent of our food is made out of a genetically modified grain called Hyper Oats. Our technology allows this grain to be changed into any meal we like.

Hey, it's the only way to stop imports from happening to Japan. We're completely self-sufficient now thanks to Hyper Oats.

How is that a good thing?! I'm curious about the scientific process of course and their longevity, but you can't subsist off Hyper Oats alone, Kogami! That's as bad as eating nothing but military rations and dehydrated foods, and presumably that's been the case for over twenty years!

We still get our necessary dietary intake through supplements. I mean, do you think I could be this well built and healthy otherwise?

[Everyone's seen how muscled up he is. If he weren't getting his necessary supplements, he wouldn't be like this.]

It's not just about nutrients, it's about flavor! Culinary wonder, and experience!

And they taste just fine. People still cook in the future and there's still all the distinct food that you see here and taste just like them. Just they all happen to be made of the same ingredients.

You just say that because you haven't had enough of the real thing. Ooh, that makes me so mad...!

[Rin is apparently in a mood now, giving up the argument but not happy about it. Even by her standards she's unusually high-strung today, and will continue to grumble insensible things as she gets back to work.]

[He's a little curious why that makes her mad of all things, but yes. He will just make his sandwich now and maybe leave because this is a weird conversation. Go forth and make your tea sandwiches for your date!]

[It probably has something to do with the fact that she's very obviously not slept the entire night and is running on fumes, so her brain to mouth filter has short-circuited.
