Week 5.

WEEK 5 Another week has passed; another two people have died. Tsubasa Hanekawa and Nachetanya Loei Piena Augustra have joined the ranks of the deceased. Whatever you may have thought about them in the end, one thing hovers heavy over the group: the fact that neither their compassion nor their ambition was enough to keep them alive in here. Is yours? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... And of course, with another successful trial comes a new addition to the building, another corridor opening up on the west side of the building. The doors leading to it branch off of the hallways leading to the second and fourth sections of the building; have those doors always been there? You can't remember... It's a new week. Of course, that means you've been here for over a month, and your stay doesn't seem to be coming to a close yet. PATIENTS REMAINING: 22

Makoto. [ There's a softness in his voice when he says the name, George has heard it before when he's talked about the Transmitter. Ryoji points to a young dark-haired boy, with headphones around his neck. The boy looks resolute and quiet, though he pauses every so often to speak to some of the other hostages (if only briefly), appearing to offer them some sort of reassurance. ]

He's my...best friend.

[ Ryoji's girlfriend's boss is ordering Ryoji to kill for his best friend. Maybe that actually adds yet another layer of awful to this situation. Maybe. ]

They really did their research on this one. We can just hope all these people are looking out for each other down there. [ The cheer in his voice is certainly fake. ]

[cadmiums]

Well she has access to our memories...

[ This incentive is just the cherry on top of an awful week. ]

[georgeous]

More of them than we do in any case...

[ He looks back at his own hostage on the screen. ]

Would they even let all of them go if we all died due to this week's murder? Seems unlikely and we'd never be any the wiser - being dead.

[cadmiums]

I don't know it's just- it's just not fair to him. Or anyone else that they took. But I'm not sure what we can really do about it.

[georgeous]

[ He'd say something like "the killer who gets away with it at least may live to see their own hostage safe" but he doesn't really want to give anyone ideas here. ]

... nothing much, yes. They're already got them, in a way, we already failed.

I hide my real name so people have a harder time finding my sister. That worked, so far.

[cadmiums]

Makoto and I are...connected, so I'm not surprised they could find him. [ A beat. ] You shouldn't blame yourself because they found her, George.

[georgeous]

[ Ryoji is right about that. As much as George would somehow like to think so, they didn't capture him because of his position of capabilities. He was apparently a random sacrifice and his sister was just as randomly generated with him. That strikes him as even more unfair though. Things that are his fault are also under his control....

Best not focus on that. ]

Connected? What do you mean?

[cadmiums]

I guess you could say...he's the reason I exist.

[georgeous]

And that means...?

[cadmiums]

[ ... ]

I'm not human, or I'm not supposed to be.

[georgeous]

[ For a moment George's face drops to an unimpressed scowl. At this point, he feels he probably has to be more surprised when someone is human than when they aren't. What a horrible place. ]

Then what are you? A clone? An invisible friend? A second personality?

[cadmiums]

None of those.

What I am is listed on my profile. Beyond that, it's not for you to know. [ Man did he get cold all of a sudden. ]

[georgeous]

You brought it up yourself.

[ Just saying. Equally coldly, at that. ]

I doubt you can blame anyone here for wishing to know who and what they are dealing with.

[cadmiums]

I know. An Appriser is someone who delivers a message, you can ask Lovecraft-- he was the one who told me before I remembered.

The message isn't for you.

It's not for her either, is it?

[ ... because bringing up this whole Transmitter thing is absolutely the way to make Ryoji open up to him. ]

[cadmiums]

It isn't. But she knows.

[georgeous]

Straying from your mission?

[cadmiums]

[ .......... ]

If I could, I would. She has access to our memories, even if I didn't tell her.

[georgeous]

Even though it's a mission he gave to you?

[ Gesturing to Ryoji's hostage screen here.

... also entirely going out on a leg about what might or might not be true in Ryoji's life. But hey? Prodding works this way! ]

[cadmiums]

[ If he had a sardonic sense of humor, he would laugh. Instead that just gets him to look even more serious. ]

I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about George. The message isn't for you, and you should be grateful that it isn't. But you're right about one thing: whatever happens to me is up to him, and that's how I want it to be.

[georgeous]

[ 'Grateful', huh... ]

Your friendly attitude hides it well, but you're really a person to keep an eye on.

[ And he will, trust him on that. George gets up then, considering the conversation done on his end at least. ]

[ Ryoji doesn't seem to mind any, it was actually...kind of refreshing. ]
