I had my suspicions that Kogami lied to me yesterday, but I didn't want them to be right. In a way, I feel like I'm responsible for this too. I didn't do enough to stop him, despite promising that I would keep an eye on him here.

I suppose not... I can only imagine though that the Risen are all too happy about this mess.

Perhaps, but they've complicated things for themselves. They've gotten rid of their mouthpiece, at least temporarily, because letting someone supposedly under their protection die was worth getting her upset enough with them to be a problem.

She did say something about that, didn't she... perhaps they didn't think that Sakura was capable of retaliating the way she did?

I'm pretty sure they should have expected that deal to be off the table the moment Rin turned up dead.

[They must have a really bad judge of character if they thought Sakura would still keep quiet after that. Killing Kogami though was unexpected...]

That's difficult to say. Somebody could quite easily have broken from this and decided everyone is bound to die soon anyway. Or decided not to kill, because they're bound to fail.

What you should ask is if you want to live.
