[It's pretty late out by the time Greed decides he doesn't want to be locked in his room right now. It's not like deaths usually happen now, right after a trial.

So he's only a little surprised when he sees someone else in the hallway.]

[...After everything that's happened today, especially with the Transmitter, he's not sure what to think about anything, beyond sticking to his guns of not blaming Misty for how horribly everything went.]

Hey Greed. How are you? [ By now he's a little more centered, though asking that question is probably still not the great thing to be doing right now. ]

[ossifragant]

[He forces a smile.]

Ahh, you know. Surviving.

[That's about all he can do.]

Mmn. Do you want to talk about the trial or...something else?

[ossifragant]

Not much to say, is there? ...It was a real mess.

[It might be an understatement, but Greed sure as heck doesn't seem to be taking it lightly.]

I spoke to Sakura earlier in the week about what she remembered in her dreams. I tried to help her because we're similar but...

If only I had gotten to her a bit sooner, I could have pulled the crossbow from her arms.

She accomplished what she felt like she had to do, and as much as I wish she hadn't, I also respect her commitment to follow it through.

[ossifragant]

I don't blame her-- she wanted revenge for what happened her sister.

[By how he says it, it seems like he was already aware they were siblings.]

It's going to be lonely without those kids around.

[ He nods, though he doesn't go as far as to say he understands because he doesn't. But he doesn't blame her for what she did either. ]

Mmm, there's only twelve of us now. We have to all work together, even if that seems more difficult...

[ossifragant]

...Yeah. We've lost more than half our numbers now. The situation's pretty grim.

[cadmiums]

There has to be an end. Everything has an end.

[ossifragant]

[Greed smiles grimly.]

Don't I know it. I've been living on borrowed time the entire time I've been here.

What do you mean?

[ossifragant]

I'm dying.

By all accounts, I should be dead.

Homunculi rely on something to continue existence. We call it our "life", but it's more like the source that powers the living alchemic array that powers our bodies. Without it, after a certain point our bodies will literally fall apart.

Before I arrived here, I had my "life" ripped from my body.

It's not possible for Misty to get the power source here. I asked her the first week here, and haven't asked since.

[ For several long moments he's silent, before he just looks incredibly sad. ]

It's.... fine.

This isn't something I've really told the others, because it's an... unpleasant topic when you get down to it, but homunculi are born knowing we shouldn't be alive. You reach a point when you realizing the only thing that you've been longing for is your own death.

[cadmiums]

Ah...so homunculi like humans chase after death.

...Yeah. That's the gist of it.

[ He sighs. ]

Do you mind if I ask...if your viewpoint has changed being here? Do you still wish for death?

[ossifragant]

....I don't know.

I still shouldn't exist, that's never going to change. But I can't say I'm willing to die here, just to be turned into a pawn for the Risen's "game."

[cadmiums]

I shouldn't exist either-- but now to me that means I'm just going to fight harder.
