Week 5.

WEEK 5 Another week has passed; another two people have died. Tsubasa Hanekawa and Nachetanya Loei Piena Augustra have joined the ranks of the deceased. Whatever you may have thought about them in the end, one thing hovers heavy over the group: the fact that neither their compassion nor their ambition was enough to keep them alive in here. Is yours? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; the static blares out early on Sunday, but at least there are no bodies to find today - it seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... And of course, with another successful trial comes a new addition to the building, another corridor opening up on the west side of the building. The doors leading to it branch off of the hallways leading to the second and fourth sections of the building; have those doors always been there? You can't remember... It's a new week. Of course, that means you've been here for over a month, and your stay doesn't seem to be coming to a close yet. PATIENTS REMAINING: 22

It's pretty boring. [Rin takes a seat beside her.] Which is an understatement. It manages to make average chapels impressive by comparison.

Oh? Have you been in a proper chapel before?

[heritrix]

Of course. I have to make regular appearances, or the Holy Church will end the friendly relationship they've kept with the Tohsaka over the centuries.

[imaginex]

Aah, yes.... [A smile crosses her face]

You have a lot of responsibility to handle.

[heritrix]

It becomes routinely, eventually. Although I've been glad that I don't have to bother, since coming here.

[She shrugs, tilting her head up to look at the ceiling.]

So what do you think of it?

[imaginex]

I like how quiet it is.

Not like our rooms -- [A silent suggestion that they're too stifling] -- but like you have space to think.

[heritrix]

You can only say that because there's not someone up on the pulpit to drone and drone.

[imaginex]

Oh... [She pauses to consider that]

I suppose if the sermon was good, I could forgive it.

... But perhaps it's a good thing we don't have a priest here.

[heritrix]

[Round 4 agrees.]

I heard a few talented speakers on a trip to Italy, but the priest I grew up with was the dullest person to listen to. Unless they juggled flaming daggers, no one could make up for that for me. I'm also comfortable with one not being here.

[imaginex]

You grew up with a priest?

[heritrix]

You didn't know that?

[imaginex]

No, I didn't realize. I thought you lived by yourself.

[heritrix]

I do, but the authorities would have invaded my home a decade ago if they knew my situation. Naturally I had a legal guardian to circumvent that.

[imaginex]

Aaah... He's your guardian.

[She glances down at her hands, folding and then refolding as she thinks to herself]

In that case, I'm glad you had someone to turn to.

[heritrix]

[Flatter than flat:]

Our relationship isn't like that. The fake priest dislikes me as much as I dislike him, but we're comfortable with that. For better or worse I was stuck with him; he's at once my guardian and my disciple, so we understand the hierarchy changes from day-to-day.

[Blunt as these words are, painting as negative of a picture about herself and Kirei as she can, despite the fact it's clear she means every word, it's strangely not lacking affection either.]

[imaginex]

[Yes, Sakura hears the undertone, just as true as her surface words. It's so like Rin...

Sakura can't help but smile a little]

I won't misunderstand, then.

Though if you don't mind me asking, why do you call him a "fake"?

[heritrix]

Because he's a person on the side of the Church, supporting the Mage's Association. Can you believe that?

[imaginex]

[A flicker of recognition]

Is he the overseer?

[heritrix]

Kirei Kotomine; the one and the only, we all hope.

[imaginex]

... So in your world, Nii-san goes to him after he loses Rider.

[Her face is... blank]

[heritrix]

[Rin unfortunately doesn't notice. They're sitting side by side like this, and her attention is on the ceiling.]

I think he yelled something about that, yeah, as he was running away with his tail tucked in-between his legs.

[imaginex]

[... A better sister would probably ask Rin not to mock her brother like that.

Sakura doesn't bother; maybe she believes of everyone, Rin has that right. But as her expression cools, it strikes an odd contrast with the venom in her voice]

I never should've given him Rider. He's going to get himself killed.

[heritrix]

If you're expecting me to disagree with you, I won't. Putting aside that he's in way over his head, a third of the student body was hospitalized thanks to him. Yourself included.

[imaginex]

[Sakura expects nothing of Rin, really, so she doesn't react or reply outside a huff of agreement. Her thoughts are angled in a different direction]

[heritrix]

[Well Rin will be quiet too for a bit then, assuming the quiet is what Sakura sought in the first place.]
