I do not fully understand how your world works. If you had a soul here, would you still capable of utilizing it for anything?

They're a person's very being, who they are. Without a soul, there's just a body. Nothing there.

...A significantly powerful alchemist could forge souls into something else, but that's-- different. People have to die for that to happen, since natural deaths lead to the souls of the dead passing through the Gate.

That is what I understand souls to be, too. Though natural deaths...it does not matter, for us. And one is enough to do so much...but I do not think I will have another chance to attempt that here.

It is said that a human could take a monster's soul as well, under the right conditions.

Maybe there's some other way, some way to get strength without relying on the things we're used to.
