Week 2.

WEEK 2

With the deaths of Sayaka Maizono and Mallick Scott the first week draws to a close. While you all have varying opinions on what happened and who was to blame, one thing's for sure: the Adjudicator isn't messing around.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; those massive double doors on the southern wall of the foyer have opened up, leading down another hallway and ending in what looks like another corridor to the west. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done.

Or perhaps for just playing the game.

There is. It's even more amazing to see when they create a picture, too, but my favorite part of things like this is watching someone's hard work disappear in an instant.

[... Much like a life...]

It's a fleeting art form. Like dancing, which exists only in the memory of the spectator once the performance is over.

[ He pushes a domino forward, watching it fall and knock down the entire line he set up. ]

...What are your thoughts on the motive, Ferid?

[He's quiet for a moment, lining them back up.]

I have no use for it at all. Everything I want is going as I want it to, and rushing things never helped anything. Changing one thing, no matter how difficult, to be in your favor could simply lead to another troubling thing, something even worse.

Or something better.

[The dominoes go down easily again and Ferid leans on a hand.]

I suppose if there was one thing I could change about my situation back home, it'd be how disobedient my charge is~. He's in his rebellious teenage years and it's a pain at times. A small, trivial thing not worth the deaths of our peers.

Yeah, there's no guarantee that it would work in one's favor. Or make any difference at all in the end; the river of history favors its original course.

[ He twirls a strand of hair around his finger. ]

Somebody's going to end up dead. I'm may be an optimist, but I'm not blind to reality.

[You know what.

There seems to be a very quiet agreement among everyone, or mostly everyone, that this isn't a group that's hoping for the best in others.]

There's too many people here to doubt that. I just wonder who might snap next, especially with such an alluring bonus on top of their freedom.

[Just because it doesn't appeal to him doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to others, after all. There's a lot of things like that.]

...Who do you think seems most likely to do it?

Fern. Perhaps it's only been my experience, seeing as she despises me so much, but she holds a grudge better than any woman I've ever met -- and I've had centuries of experience with them, Inigo.

[A sigh.]

She's also frantic to return to her son, overly aggressive when it comes to that fact, and I wouldn't doubt that if she could make it so all was well in her world she'd take the risk.
