Week 2.

WEEK 2

With the deaths of Sayaka Maizono and Mallick Scott the first week draws to a close. While you all have varying opinions on what happened and who was to blame, one thing's for sure: the Adjudicator isn't messing around.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; those massive double doors on the southern wall of the foyer have opened up, leading down another hallway and ending in what looks like another corridor to the west. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done.

Or perhaps for just playing the game.

[ Well, at least she's smiling. That seems to be a good enough sign. ]

I dunno what to make about the fact that he's giving incentives now, but, I'm choosing to take it as a good sign. After what we saw, I don't think anyone would murder for the hell of it, so he's trying to push? So maybe the guy's getting a bit more desperate.

Maybe. And even this seems... it's not like you can fix your life just by changing one thing.

[And even if she could, there's no way she could sacrifice all these other people for it. Because that's what winning here means: technically, you killed everyone else.]

Even for those of us with things we would like to change.

Maybe "fix" isn't the best word. I will say that changing one thing will probably change way more things. Kinda like dominos, you know? One thing leads to another, leads to another...even something small can change things in a big, big way.

But changing something thinking it would make things better might actually make things worse. No one has a crystal ball, after all. You can't tell the future.

Yeah. And even if it changed for the better... no matter what, I don't want to leave here alone. No matter how much better Juri could make things.

[At that point, she might as well just go back and work for her dad forever.]

I just hope everyone here shares that sentiment. He was...definitely trying to appeal to someone with that. And though I honestly have no need for something like that, well...people here probably would think something like that is worth an attempt.

Probably.

Yeah. Not everyone with not-so-stellar lives has come to terms with them like I have. It's definitely going to tempt some of them. Mostly I don't like the idea of Juri starting to throw reasons at us.

I think it's both a good thing and a bad thing. If he has to resort to singling out a couple of people with them, isn't that a decent enough sign?

True. And it's only going to get harder for him to find reasons as time goes on too, right? I mean there's not far up to go from "changing one thing in your life, no matter how big" if- when this doesn't work.

[Whether or not the incentives work... even with power reaching across multiple universes, there's only so much he can do! And it's not like they're going to lose.]
