Week 2.

WEEK 2 With the deaths of Sayaka Maizono and Mallick Scott the first week draws to a close. While you all have varying opinions on what happened and who was to blame, one thing's for sure: the Adjudicator isn't messing around. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... However, those weird dreams aren't the only new thing around here; those massive double doors on the southern wall of the foyer have opened up, leading down another hallway and ending in what looks like another corridor to the west. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done. Or perhaps for just playing the game. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 28

[And Brady...well, he takes note of where things are. He should...probably know how to do some of this himself a bit more...]

Uh, probably from chickens? That's what most eggs are from that people eat.

Those're birds? [They sound birdy] We get eggs from all kinda stuff back home. Swellow's pretty popular - their eggs're bigger than these, kinda blue. Don't taste the same, but these aren't bad.

[He nods to that, the bird part, but--]

What's a Swellow?

A bird Pokemon! They're about this big - [It's like two feet tall] - blue, with some red markings and a long pointy tail. Sharp claws on 'em, too.

What's a chicken look like?

Ohhhh. You did say you come from the same place Cilan does, so, I should've figured.

Chickens are a lot smaller than that, about...yay high. [He holds his hand up about a foot.] And bird-like and they cluck? Most of the time they're white, but sometimes brown.

Oh, yeah. Y'get Pokemon in weird colors sometimes too, but that's one in a million. Knew a guy who said he saw a green Swellow once.

[Archie snorts.]

Do chickens battle? [.....this is why inigo thinks you're a cockfighter]

[Gentle staring.] No? No, animals fighting is kinda something we try to avoid.

...well, sure, you don't wanna get caught in the middle. But you don't battle with 'em at all?

Dude, they'd get hurt. Why would you wanna make 'em fight?

Woah, no one makes them fight! A Pokemon wouldn't work with a trainer if they didn't wanna get into battling! There's plenty just wanna live out their normal lives in the wild, and you don't go messin' with 'em.

Huh. If it's a mutual thing that doesn't sound so bad. So... I guess they're more...opinionated than animals? I wouldn't know, we don't have Pokémon where I'm from.

We don't have animals! But sure, a Pokemon's not gonna do anythin' it doesn't wanna do. Most of 'em are just as smart as any human, if not more.

[Omelettes are about done by now, and he flips one onto a plate to offer to Brady.]

I guess animals aren't. Lotta meat in that fridge.

[A brief thank you, and:] Well. Some of them are. It all depends, it's like... There's some that it's...okay to eat, but others it is definitely not.

And some people don't at all, especially if folks are all...animal cruelty types. [What a lovely breakfast conversation.]

[Yes this is great. He sits down with his own omelette and continues it.]

It's sorta the same at home. There's a few kinds of Pokemon that people eat, in some places more than others. Used to happen a lot more in the old days.

I don't eat any myself. Doesn't feel right.

[meanttobe]

Oh, yeah, I know a bunch of people like that. Personally, I'm a bit more- ohhhh. [He just took a bite of his omelette.] This is really good, man.

[Archie grins.]

Heh, glad ya like it! That's one good thing about not usin' meat - I recognize most of the other stuff! [Really it's a little surprising that the plant life is apparently so similar, when everything else is so radically different.]

Sooo we've got the same plants, but not the same creatures walking around. Good to know.

[Another bite and it's just as good.]

Think you could teach me how to make something like this? I mostly survive off microwave food.

Funny, isn't it? Seems like without Pokemon - or animals - the whole ecosystem'd be different.

[But we're eating, and that seems to forestall a talk about the environment. Also we can't be certain Archie knows how balanced ecosystems work, because....well]

Sure! I've never given anyone cooking lessons before, sounds like fun.

Thanks, man! Don't have to make it a big thing or whatever, I'm definitely fine with just omelettes.

The guy works hard! I respect that, but he'll wear himself out if he keeps that up too long.
