Week 4.

WEEK 4 Three more Competitors died this past week. Chitoge Kirisaki tried to take matters into her own hands only to be punished as a result while William Flemming and Archie both tried to take the Adjudicator up on his word and escape. Three more of you are gone, but there's no going back now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, another set of doors has opened up - this time at the end of the western corridor, leading up and toward the north. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it a reward for surviving another week. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 23

That'd be rather unfortunate, if it still has bullets. I always kept it fully loaded.

[Naoto gets in position to fire an arrow. She's...uuuuh...well, it's clear she has absolutely no experience. Look at how feeble the arrow is against the bow]

[flagitate]

Who knows.

[ She watches her closely, then walks over and corrects her. ]

You can't hesitate. Or be self-conscious about it. Stand up taller.

[Naoto straightens up a little and grips the bow tighter. That doesn't really solve the arrow problem, so when she lets it go the arrow misses the target...by a lot]

...oh.

[flagitate]

[ Katniss watches her shoot, then raises her own bow and pulls an arrow from her quiver. ]

I'll just show you. I'll go slow, so you can get the idea.

[ Katniss's motions are slow, careful. She nocks the arrow, takes a deep breath, lets it out. And she lets the arrow fly. It hits the center of the target. ]

[Naoto watches carefully and after Katniss manages to hit the target Naoto imitates everything she had done.

This time...well, she did hit the target, but it's still way too far from the center. It's progress, at least, but what did one expect from anyone's second attempt?]

That's a start.

[flagitate]

Yeah. It takes practice, but you're not bad.

[ Katniss repeats the movements, slowly and deliberately so Naoto can see again. ]

It took me years to get where I am.

[fortunatedetective]

Did you start doing archery simply because you were interested in learning it?

[Doing what her father was doing seems like the most likely answer. Naoto once again imitates Katniss, doing a tad better. Not firing the arrow yet, though]

[flagitate]

Not really. The woods outside our district--we weren't supposed to go out to them, but we did it anyway. It was the only reliable source of food. So I wanted to learn how to hunt, and my dad just taught me. He taught me about edible plants, too.

[ It's a good thing he did, since... you know. ]

[fortunatedetective]

It sounds like hunting is a necessary skill in your world if one wants to survive.

[There goes the arrow. It...pretty much hit to the side of the arrow that had hit the target]

[flagitate]

If you want to eat decently, yeah.

[fortunatedetective]

Forgive my question, but what's the date you remember back at your home?

[She's guessing something along the Middle Ages, hah]

[flagitate]

It's alright. It's 76 ADD. I don't know what that translates into for people like-- [ people like Chitoge ] --who are from an earlier time than me.

[fortunatedetective]

[Naoto lowers the bow. What had she just said...?]

You come from the future?!

[That explains the rebellion that changed the name of America, at least]

What does 'ADD' mean? I know what 'AD' means, but the term you use is unknown to me.

[She knew there were people from different times, but she never suspected Katniss was in the far future. Naoto isn't sure how that makes her feel]

Yeah. It's a crappy future.

It means after the Dark Days, which was the rebellion.
