Week 4.

WEEK 4 Three more Competitors died this past week. Chitoge Kirisaki tried to take matters into her own hands only to be punished as a result while William Flemming and Archie both tried to take the Adjudicator up on his word and escape. Three more of you are gone, but there's no going back now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, another set of doors has opened up - this time at the end of the western corridor, leading up and toward the north. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it a reward for surviving another week. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 23

[Yeah right. The guy laughs at too much inappropriate shit for that.]

Still, your list is rather impressive, even if I don't understand a thing on it~. What are these drawings of yours?

[hentopan]

[ Okay Ferid hold on for a few seconds as he laughs again, this time for substantially longer.]

That's an even better joke! [ After he's done being thoroughly amused:]

They're not drawings, they're runes. Old language, but not bad for keeping notes in.

[Why doesn't Aligula like you, Terumi. You laugh when you're supposed to!!]

I haven't seen anything like them before! Even the ones I'm vaguely familiar with, [being as old as he is,] don't resemble them so much, though I suppose that's just a difference between worlds~. Do they relate to your numbers?

[hentopan]

They do. I suppose next you're gonna ask what they mean, huh? The last time I tried to explain something to someone it was just a waste of time. [ He shrugs.]

They also didn't have a myriad of experiences and knowledge that spans thousands of years, Terumi. Try me.

If you don't deal with time manipulation and continuum shifts, it doesn't matter how old you are.

You're right, I wouldn't understand a word of it. Unless you're incapable of explaining it simply?

[hentopan]

Why the hell would I bother to? [ He's so pleasant.]

So others have a chance to converse with you, of course! They say that a truly intelligent man knows how to mince his words and make things easy to understand, while someone who simply parrots the words of others doesn't have the same depth of knowledge.

[hentopan]

Shit like that doesn't work on me. [ But he continues onward anyway because what the hell.]

You understand the butterfly effect at least?

[Seems he's met his match in that department.]

I do. One action can cause a ripple across time and change the very nature of the world, in the most dramatic of descriptions.

[hentopan]

That's a simplified version of what this is- [ Points to all the equations:] except the butterfly effect assumes you only get once chance at something, and it presumes you're the largest interference in the continuum.

[seventhprogenitor]

It makes much more sense for you to get several chances at something and to be a small wave in an ocean of possibilities, in my opinion. Is it something like that?

[hentopan]

You could say that, but in this case it doesn't matter if you make a big wave or a small one. The number of opportunities is the same either way, which is the whole problem.

Well, doesn't that just sound like a disaster waiting to happen. Those with bigger splashes shouldn't be allowed all the chances they get. That's just unfair.

[They can affect too much!!]

[hentopan]

It's a fucking mess. [ To put it lightly.]

So how does one untangle that? Can it be untangled? Does it simply require a death here and there?

[hentopan]

Persistence and death among other things.

[seventhprogenitor]

You really know how to hand out hooks. Like what?

[hentopan]

Magic, alchemy, science, technology, politics, government. [ He could keep going but he won't.]

[Wow~. That's a lot. Ferid looks mildly impressed.]

A finger in every pie. Are you knowledgeable in all, and are you in charge of straightening out those problems?

[hentopan]

Do you really think I'm the type of person that likes solving problems?

I know enough, but I prefer some more than others.

[seventhprogenitor]

You look like the kind of person who would solve problems with the sharp end of his knife. Which isn't a necessarily bad plan of action, and in fact solves many things! It just isn't my kind of solution.

[Like, not directly his kind of solution.]

Seeing as you and Isaac get along sooo well, is one of the things you prefer alchemy?

[hentopan]

[ He laughs, isn't that the truth?]

Magic actually, but alchemys not bad either. I usually don't handle alchemy personally, leave that up to my partner as it's his area of obsession. Doesn't mean I don't know a lot about it though.
