Week 4.

WEEK 4 Three more Competitors died this past week. Chitoge Kirisaki tried to take matters into her own hands only to be punished as a result while William Flemming and Archie both tried to take the Adjudicator up on his word and escape. Three more of you are gone, but there's no going back now. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Once again, another set of doors has opened up - this time at the end of the western corridor, leading up and toward the north. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it a reward for surviving another week. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 23

[ Terumi is actually holed up in one of the rooms in the corner, doing some more fancy equations on a pile of paper. He'd do them in his room but he's not really the type to sit still (what a surprise).]

Thought you said I was the one who was gonna fall asleep in a random ass spot.

[glaciates]

I'm not going to fall asleep, I'm wide awake.

[Which is part of the problem!! But hi, Terumi.]

...What are you working on?

[hentopan]

[ He shrugs, it's still pretty damn late.]

If you want the simple answer, mapping out the Calamity Trigger. [ Only for you, Isaac.]

Are you making progress with it?

[Terumi doesn't seem annoyed so... probably??]

[hentopan]

I already know what it is, so I just need to work backwards. It's a hell of a lot easier that way, but it's still a lot to keep track of. [ If Isaac peeks it looks like he's working on a ridiculously complex flow chart. Thousands of arrows all intersecting with each other with a lot of numbers all over the place.]

[glaciates]

Huh. It probably would be easiest that way, yeah.

[It looks super complicated, but at least you haven't hit a roadblock yet!]

I don't know how you usually work through these things, but if you need someone to listen, I can do that.

[He's the sort of person who needs to talk through his ideas.]

Izzy, you still don't know what I really do, do you? [ This feels like it might be story time...if so prepare for a wild ride.]

Nope. You've explained some things before, but I feel like I'm still missing a lot.

What do you think of fate?

Fate... That's an interesting question.

[Give him a moment to think on it.]

I don't like the idea of your life following a set path and everything you've done was because you were supposed to do it. So I don't want to believe it exists. It's not something we think much about in Amestris, though I'm sure there are people who believe in it.

[hentopan]

Not a bad answer, because fate doesn't exist in a bullshit way like that. There are forces that push events in certain ways, but it's got nothing to do with destiny or idealistic crap.

Naturally things don't always go the way they want. So what do they do? Just restart things over and over and over and fucking over again.

[glaciates]

...So they're trying to manipulate a specific outcome, but for whatever reason they're not getting it. When they reset things, most people don't remember, do they?

[That's what he'd assume anyway. But Terumi has said he's lived for a long time and his age on the profile doesn't match that... so this would make sense, probably?]

[hentopan]

Only a few, called observers.

[glaciates]

That'd explain a lot about you, then.

So what is it you're working on now, exactly...?

[hentopan]

My real title is longer, but it's a secret~. [ He smiles real wide, in that inhuman sort of way.]

How do you fix a broken system?

[glaciates]

Good question. That's something I've been trying to work out.

[Though... he thinks he might have already found his answer back home.]

How are you fixing it?

[hentopan]

Destroying it.

[glaciates]

...Well, that's one way to fix a problem.

[It's not quite as joking as he wishes it was.]

Either that or keep living the same bullshit.

[glaciates]

...Yeah. It's not much of a choice.

What'll happen if you manage it?

[hentopan]

[ He laughs for a good 10 seconds.]

Who the fuck knows?

[glaciates]

[You know, he could point out that this seems like a terrible idea, but given how terrible living in a loop like that sounds (especially when you're aware of it)...

Well, something about all of this is hitting strangely close to home and so Isaac smirks.]

[That's the most awkward smile but he tried!! Kinda!!]

Ah, I almost forgot. The Calamity Trigger is the one person who's existence disrupts the entire system. Find that, and nothing's predictable anymore.

Who would have known it was one of my dolls all along, but go figure.
