Week 5.

WEEK 5 With the deaths of AZ, Brady Russell, McKenzie Mitchell, and Walter White, it's probably starting to feel less crowded around here, isn't it? But there isn't going to be a break from your situation - a new day in here should remind you of that. Two people were murdered in an attempt to escape and one had Juri's help to take his own life. How many more will die this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Checking the rules when you wake up will reveal that there's been a rule change; another reminder of things you've lost, and things you may have yet to lose. Of course, with the start of a new week, another set of doors has opened up - once again, they can be found in the western corridor, jutting downwards toward the south. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; after the weekend's trial, you probably deserve it. COMPETITORS REMAINING: 19

[In the morning, Jean's finally taking her turn at the arcade, working up a well-deserved sweat. As you might guess, yes, she's a total natural at the DDR machine, and any high scores you might have entered are at risk. Oddly enough, though, she doesn't seem to care too much about her score, and is instead taken with trying out the different songs. While there's several different songs she's playing which seem like natural choices, she seems to keep circling back to a different song.

She is playing this game nonstop from breakfast until Juri's announcement. If she had known this kind of place existed, she probably would have requested it long before a pool!

After the announcement, she's milling about for a while, up until she sees Isaac's yard sale. That's right -- she has clothes she's not using! And the entertainment committee has organized a fashion show! With that, she starts asking around the dormitories to see who wants her extra articles of clothing. There's a very swanky looking outfit that's a little too small for most people here. There's also some white boots that may or may not have belonged to a certain idol, but who knows really?

In the evening, she's in the billiards hall, giving another game a try. What? No, not billiards. The dartboard! However, since she doesn't have anyone to play against, she's challenging herself with some trick shots instead. The harder they are, the further she gets from a perfect bullseye -- but on the other hand, considering the distance she's throwing from, it's pretty impressive that they're still landing on the board.]

['Well' is an understatement! Jean, you're doing amazing!]

[Hope nobody else wanted any high scores on this machine!]

I had no idea there were games like this! The lights, the music -- this is incredible!

In my world, this type of machines are rather popular. It's not unusual to spend time with friends in a place like this.

[At some point during the years Naoto has known her friends they must have taken her to an arcade, I'm sure of it]

If we had these, our carnival would be run straight out business! Compared to these, our games were downright dull!

[She finishes the song, and... yup, looks like she's gotten another high score! However, this machine only allows for three letters, so it looks like she's simply entered "J" every time.]

[Oh god this room has a ton of crazy lights. And machines he has no clue about...but seeing his friend playing that stomping game does get him to come over. That looks fun at least?]

What is that?

Aymeric, this is the single greatest invention that mankind has ever come up with.

Look! They even say it's revolutionary! [She points up at the logo on top of the cabinet -- DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION in big, bold letters.]

[Oh! Dancing is involved! Ok, that makes him feel a little better. And the music isn't bad!]

It must be remarkable if that is the case! Tis no surprise that you mastered it!

Oh, it didn't take that long. It's simple, but it's brilliant. You just follow the arrows! They match up with the music, see!

[Right on cue, the song gets to one of those tricky offbeat sections -- and Jean has no problem following along. A few jumps later, and it goes back to the normal beat.]

[ Inigo only visited the arcade briefly during his exploration on Sunday and decided he didn't like the flashy lighting and the strange machines... but curiosity has driven him to return and maybe find out what the machines do. ]

...Jean, what are you doing?

[oasisrose]

What's it look like? I'm dancing up a storm!

[The arcade game's announcer suddenly chimes in --]

Absolutely wonderful! Your steps are AMAZING!!

... and I think I'm making a new friend, too!

What sort of machine is this? [ Inigo is just. Staring. ] You dance on it and it says things?

[oasisrose]

Exactly! It's a game! Every arrow is a step -- the more you hit, the more points you get! And the more you miss...

[Just to demonstrate, she steps to the side for a moment. The arrows are moving quick, and her score quickly plummets.]

... the more points you lose.

You're not ready for a stage! Try practicing in a closet first!

Dorms

[Fern probably shouldn't be up and about but she can't stay still for much longer. Besides, she's just popping by her room to grab some stuff.]

Oh, afternoon Jean. How you doing?

As well as I can!

[Which is really impressive, actually, since two days ago she was dreaming about a world-devouring god descending from the sky as a giant pillar of flesh.

Anyway, she holds up the boots.] What do you think? Care for a little white to match your green?

I've been wearing platform boots and heelies from the machine for weeks, that sounds perfect.

[oasisrose]

Seriously? Your feet must be killing you by now, then!

[She casually drops the non-platform boots down in front of Fern. They're tall, but it doesn't look like they have much of a heel to them at all.]

Here, let's have them try on something more comfortable.

[...you know. You know, that swanky outfit...]

...oh, hey, I think that's... actually mine?

Is it? [Well, that explains the size!]

It came out of the vending machine. I was surprised, it's nicer than many of the trinkets they've stocked up in there!

[andneversaydie]

Yeah! ...I probably wouldn't have recognized it before this week, though, 'cause a friend made it for me.

[oasisrose]

Ah, I should have guessed that much! You can always tell when clothes are crafted by someone who cares a lot about the person wearing it. It's like they're stitching their love right into it, adding to its appeal.

[Which sort of makes Jean wish that she knew a little more about it. At least she can do a little darning, but...]

And this one's a real eye-catcher!

Did I just stumble onto a beautiful dance routine here?

[ He feels kinda lucky to see Jean bust out those badass moves.

He'll even like clap, cheering her on. Go go! ]

Well, you've stumbled on a dance routine. You'll have to be the one to tell me if it's beautiful!

[After all, she's just following the arrows, and it takes a lot of concentration!]

I can tell you that it's a lot of fun, though!

But yeah, it is pretty fun. How many songs have you gotten through?

Um... actually, I haven't been counting! Maybe 20, or more? [She's spent her whole morning on this, Yuri.]

I'm not even sure how many there are on this machine. It must be quite a lot.
